What was suppressed and would it have made a difference?

Genuinely don't know.

You don't know about 'ten percent for the big guy'?

I'm shocked....not.

As for would it have made a difference?....Well the Democrats, social media, most newspapaer media, Democrat TV media, significant security service personnel and Biden himself obviously thought so.

There is a positive to it in that it is so blatant that nobody with even a modicum of political nous can deny the double standards.

It helps make the divide stronger and more permanent.

I think that's already the case with the voting demographics. The number of independent voters has narrowed and partisanship increased as the media for both has ever polarised.

What's important though is at the elite level.....as of yet we still have a way to go.

Personally I don't think we reach that point until Republicans no longer think they can win. That's coming, 2028, 2032....whenever it's reached.

That's when America really gets interesting in that sense.

The economic situation also factors into that as well....it's the fuel for how hot the fire gets.

I think all its foreign opponents know this as well.

If, fingers crossed, we are all still here at that point.

I know, but what I also know, which you apparently don't, or just choose to ignore. is that it's a non story.

There is no evidence that that this involved anyone in government, let alone the current President. At worse this was a troubled son trying to gain advantage from his father's position.

That the right add two and two and try to make it ten is just evidence of their desperation.

Would it have made a difference? Probably. It did when Clinton's emails were released without FBI intervention in 2016, which they learned from and have tried to avoid a repeat.

You can't help nor reason with people like that.

Let it be remembered that those who spoke of collusion between social media companies and government were called conspiracy theorists.

Edited by Stirlingsays (04 Dec 2022 5.02am)

What on earth do you think has been "proved"?

That a private business decided not to publish a story?

That they might have done so on the advice of the FBI?

That isn't collusion.

A private business has the absolute right to determine what appears on it's platform. Especially when advised that there were doubts about it's provenance, and their lawyers warn about allowing unverified claims to stand.

The FBI has a duty to warn social media platforms about any perceived threats of election interference by foreign actors.

That you listen to all the right wing talking heads blathering their repetitive nonsense about this being some kind of major scandal might be unfortunate, but it doesn't make it true. A conspiracy theory is precisely what it is.

What is blatant is that the hard right press, on behalf of the Trump base, are desperately trying to find some dirt to pin on Biden in the hope it will deflect attention away from Trump.

It's unfortunately another example of a Big Lie being told so often that some start to believe it must be true. Fortunately this time it seems there won't be enough.

And there was me thinking denial was in Egypt. Musk actually tasked the release of these dealings with from what I can see a fairly left leaning journalist or is that a right wing conspiracy as well.

"The FBI has a duty to warn social media platforms about any perceived threats of election interference by foreign actors."

No they don't. They choose to interfere when they don't like the politics.

Perceived means no proof just a narrative.

Your repeated description of Hunter Biden as " a troubled son " is designed to suit your own view of what happened.

My view is he was a corrupt entitled opportunist who leveraged his father's position to make money for both of them.

For Joe Biden to state he had no idea about any of his son's business dealings is risible.

Time will reveal a lot more of what happened, the blank spaces in Biden's official diary of meetings in the White House when Hunter bought in his business connections will be interesting when the truth comes out.

As we stand, it's all speculation of both guilt and innocence.

That to one side, as mentioned on here before, Twitter and the MSM were sufficiently concerned to try and bury the story.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Whoever he chose to do his bidding is his business. This is Musk trying to distance himself from the previous management and establish his ownership. It looks like a pretty daft move to me, unless he wants to drive users onto other platforms.

The internal muddles and disagreements over the way stories are handled will exist in all social media companies. That a new owner wants to impose different standards to a previous owner doesn't mean the previous one was wrong. It was their business then and their right to manage it whichever way they wanted.

This is a non story. Just froth to be blown around in the winds of the right. Watching a Republican majority House committee try to find some dirt to throw at Biden over this will make for amusement next year. I think they are going to look extremely petty and foolish and damage their prospects for 2024.

The FBI are politically blind. They serve the USA, not a party, or a President. Don't that fact get in the way of your prejudice though!

Perceived means exactly what it says. They had warnings of another dump of misinformation from sources, which were non-specific. So they made the social media companies aware of this and asked they take special care with anything that could not be independently authenticated. Keeping the USA safe is their duty. That's part of it.

My description of Hunter Biden is indeed how I view him, as yours is just yours. I am sure his father had a broad idea of what his son was involved in, but almost certainly not the detail. He has quite a lot of other things to be dealing with. I know what my daughters do, but not who their contacts are, where they based etc. And I am nothing like so busy as Joe.

The MSM didn't "bury" the story at all. They wouldn't run it whilst it remained unverified. Like you I think there is a great deal more to come out, but unlike you I think it will tell us much more about the role that Bannon and Giuliani played along with the guy who first made the copies of the hard drive. Evidence is beginning to seep out that these were tampered with. The only authentic copy is with the FBI, and they aren't saying anything. Yet.
