I long gave up hoping that anything I say will ever find a home in your brain. As I cannot imagine you accepting being silenced, no matter how politely it is requested, you can be quite certain that I won't either. So you can continue to waste time and effort, boring the pants of people in the process, if you choose to keep repeating a request that has been refused, but it won't make any difference. As for me, I will now simply ignore them.

It’s the same way a lot of Brexiteers imply their style of nationalism is the only way to be proud of Britain - I’m immensely patriotic, but I don’t align with the same style of nationalism nor ultimately the same politics. These women clearly have different views on what is right for society, and you can contest those fairly and at length, but I see nothing to suggest it’s a lack of allegiance which is the difference here.. I think that’s quite watery. I think that the first allegiance people have is to themselves and their family. Identity is now used as a means of serving one's self. The trouble is that the only group that cannot use this approach is the White majority. They need to defend their interests just as much as anyone. Trump has been elected as a result of identity politics.

Why is everyone particaly the left missing the "Then come back and show us how it's done" part of his comment.

Don't yea just love socially incohesive societies.....let's leave our personal stances on nationalism aside for a moment to focus on the mindsets here. I kind of think you summed it up in your first sentence. These are alligiances to two different forms of societies. Trump is saying, 'if you don't like this society....as in the 'status quo'...the 'Anglo Saxon' model as he sees it....then leave'. Where as the Squad want to change the society and take over....and indeed demographic change means that soon it will be theirs rather than his. But in the short term, the 'Squad' are pretty unpopular to the current majority....so he wins by highlighting the differences in their allegiance to a different type of society. Essentially it's the backdrop to what I've been saying for months and it's having birthing pains with the 'boomers' like Trump......but they can't quite bring themselves to change from civic nationalism Edited by Stirlingsays (17 Jul 2019 11.42am) I actually quite like your Anglo-Saxon explanation, but I think you’re giving Trump too much credit - I think that’s far more nuanced than what he meant. Also, as has been pointed out, would he use the same response if a white congressman was against the status quo... I very much doubt it.

This is NOT a reply to Stirlingsays. This is for everyone else. This is a forum for members of the Hol. It isn't a private email account or even the Hol private messages box. No one member has control over the posts here. Posters post comments. They make claims and assertions. Explain their theories. Others may disagree and decide to comment. Both are fully entitled to do so. Those who choose to respond do so not to the original poster, but to the post. It's for members to read, if they wish to. Those who don't want to read, don't have to. They have just as much freedom to ignore any post as any poster has in posting one. As some posters have frequently complained that freedom of expression is under threat these days it is pretty ironic when this is attempted here. Just imagine if I requested all my many detractors to stop posting replies so that my words could stand unchallenged. I don't want that, and I trust no-one else wants it either.

Why is everyone particaly the left missing the "Then come back and show us how it's done" part of his comment. Because the inference was that they had more in common with the "s***hole" countries that their forefathers came from, than the USA, where they are now citizens. And elected Congresswomen. The suggestion was that they aren't really Americans so "go home" and sort out "your" mess before you tell "us" what to do. It's simple divisiveness. It has nothing to do with left, or traditional right politics. It smacks of ethnic cleansing. Of the enemy within. Where have we heard these type of sentiments before? Should we approve of them raising their head again? I would love some of the native Americans to start to tell people like Trump to "go home".

It just so happens that the people who make the most noise about injustice always seem to be anything but White. How many White immigrants or their offspring do you hear complaining that America has been bad to them? We give Black people a hearing because they were disadvantaged by slavery. That is now in the past.

That is now in the past. In a discussion where it’s been claimed that Trump was referring to ‘allegiances to a different type of society’ rather than race, it’s entirely relevant to highlight that I don’t expect he would say the same thing to a white man who held allegiance to a different type of society - it’s an entirely valid point. I don’t really want to get drawn into a discussion on wider societal issues around race, but I find the idea that minorities treatment in America is circumstantial a very difficult one to agree with.

I think he may have played American Football in college but I could be wrong. I also don't quite see him going down the park as a kid. What do billionaires do? I have no clue. I guess get the servants to play with the kids, have private coaches at tennis or golf etc. Wouldn't want the kids to get dirty.
