Most Newcastle fans are fine, but The Mag represents the annoying ones that aren't. Like the ones that used to plague these forums when Pardew joined us. That article is also delusional and is based on little other than a desperate belief that Palace are a poor club. The Olise sale removed any question about PSR (I don't actually think that was even a question even without the sale of Olise). It also ignores the fact that Parish has a strong record of getting players to sign new deals to protect their value (like Olise and Eze last season and Zaha before them). If we don't sell Guehi is he really going to turn down the opportunity to double his wages and sit out the last two-years of his contract? I just don't see it. Either Newcastle pay up or Guehi will sign a new deal (possibly with a release clause).

Marc Guehi is better than Newcastle. I think it would be a waste for him to go there as his big move. He deserves a really top club, I’m amazed Utd, Liverpool and even city are not coming in for him. After watching his interview I’m even more impressed with him. Of course he would love a big move for generational wealth. However if does stay, I don’t for 1 minute think he would anything less than 100% for us. I really don’t want to see any more of our squad leave. It’s going to be hard enough to fill the void Olise left and we want to build on what we achieved under OG last season. Not sure about this personally - whilst MG has been superb for Palace, he is not the 'elite level' defender that he is being touted as in my opinion. He is not great in the air and whilst very comfortable on the ball, will still make mistakes like every other centre-back. Newcastle are talking about him as some kind of saviour that will catapult them into the top-4, but, we've shown after he was injured that he is comfortably replaceable. 60+ million is a great price for us to move on, improve the squad and not be too impacted by his absence.

The obvious solution for Palace, if they wish to retain Guehi, is to negotiate a new contract with a pay rise and release clause of a fair amount whereby a club can buy him from next season. It really comes down to whether the club actually wishes to cash in on him now or keep him longer. If we want to keep him, then we can play at valuation brinksmanship for another week and if we don't get a massive offer, we can call off any deal. Newcastle are hoping that we actually want a sale.

He's at the absolute peak of his value after being in the shop window all Summer and is flavour of the month with the media. If we're serious about our sustainability model and growing long term, we don't act sentimentally and use the funds wisely and mark this sale down as an absolute success story!

No , you're not on your own there . I think as you said he had a decent tournament but not flawless, he does make the odd error but show ne a defender that doesn't and I'll show you a liar . IMO i think that is a good offer for him and i think it should be taken hand and all and invest, if my math is correct we will have to give Chelsea 13 mill out of it also for their 20 percent sell on clause .

I don't really go along with this type of thinking. The player is an asset and the club cannot simply ignore his monetary value, but in the long term, there is far more value in success on the field. We can't claim to be ambitious if we sell every quality player we manage to find.

Nope, he made a big mistake in every game he played, the first 2 games he got back and got the block in, I think the third, he gave a professional foul, pretty sure he got a yellow, not the one caused by the poor pass by trippier either, that was the Holland game where he made a mistake not long after, it might have even been what led to the Dutch goal. Tho he's a great player and was our most consistent player at the euros, which wasn't that much of an achievement, as everyone had a pretty poor tournament. The media were just grasping for positives from England that both benefited Guehi and us. I hope he goes on to have a hugely successful career tho as he seems like a good guy. If we had Newcastles squad, no way would I sell him, but we don't and the money will strengthen the whole squad.
