Why on earth would Palace want to hand Lyon players on the cheap. Especially through the much improved youth system. If Textor owns the club outright then he has a full say on the matter. Luckily he doesn't at Palace and I feel that's where his judgement has ere'd. Frankly, I'm glad he's trying to sell up. Goodluck and adios. I'd laugh if SJ buys a small share back into Palace. Probably not though. You mean like Jake O'Brien? Exactly why I think this multi club stuff is b0ll0cks and the sooner we get rid of Textor the better.

O'Brien refused to sign a new contract so it was either sell him or let him walk for nothing a few months later and let's not forget that he was an unknown quantity at the time

Absolutely nothing to do with any influence from Textor whatsoever, just a weird quirk of fate that he decided not to sign a new contract and then joined another club owned by Eagle Holdings. What are the odds.

We simply don't know, it does appear that O'Brien did not want to sign a new contract but was he nudged by Textor? I remember at the time that Textor had publicly had a go at Parish and the board as he claimed his advice wasn't being heeded. Textor did this because the was some murmurings from his investors as to when they would see the benefits of this multiclub ownership. Did Parish and the rest of the board throw him a bone to help him with his investors? Pure speculation on my part of course.

What are the odds. Whether it was Parish's decision or his hand was forced by Textor does not alter the facts that Jake wasn't going to get enough opportunities with Palace at that time, and that he was open to leaving for that reason. In terms of the fee, Palace paid £25k for him and sold him for £1m. That's part of the Academy function, to generate income as well as produce potential first team players. I would contend that the fee was in line with his value at the time. It's great to see that Jake has progressed and is now worth far more as Palace have a sell on clause.

Perhaps, or maybe we could have brought him in rather than having to buy someone like Riad (assuming he is coming) and at the time convinced him to stay on a season with a loan to an upper Championship team. He was very highly rated by those who saw him and was definitely one that was on the shortlist for breaking through into the first team at some point. Even at the time we must have known that it was becoming more likely that we'd lose Guéhi and/or Andersen if results didn't turn around. That being said, I understand his reasons (especially with Roy being at the helm at the time) and I'm glad he's done well, but I can't help consider the possibility that those options were filtered if Textor was involved in getting him to Lyon. It also shows a desire by Textor to raid the academy and bring youth players through to the other multi club teams, which might not always work to Palace's advantage. Who knows though, everything in this thread is all hearsay really.

More news coming from this Everton saga, seems Textor wants a period of grace from the EPL so he can sell his shares in us & buy them . . . [Link]
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that. |

If a grace period is allowed in this instance it would open the door for other similar proposals in future, surely the authorities wont want to go down that route ? Imagine the uncertainty that could follow in football clubs boardrooms around the country. Originally posted by Foxy0208
