If Lampard does take the WBA job then it could be it is his agent leaking stories that he chose to turn down Palace in order that his client doesn't get the reputation for being shunned by a smaller PL club. Lampard to WBA makes more sense to me than him coming to us. He needs to go away from the spotlight and earn his stripes and he'll get more chance to do that in the Championship with a squad that should bounce back quickly. I think there are big question marks over whether he has the experience to oversee what appears to be a summer of change at Palace. Chelsea have the talent to hide deficiencies in tactics and coaching to an extent, but at Palace the manager often finds himself up against superior opposition.

The more I think about it the likes of Cooper or Ismael make sense given our new transfer approach seems to be to target top talent from the lower leagues. Plus both seem to be fast-developing coaches with perhaps less involvement in transfers, which would suit our current structure rather than hiring a big name like Benitez that would likely want a blank cheque for players and a sizeable wage.

Convinced Lampard will be revealed as the new manager, despite click bait merchants saying otherwise.

Me too. I thought Howe was nailed on at one point but I’ll be very surprised if Lampard isn’t revealed some time next week.

Hope something happens soon as Roy's ''in tray'' is overflowing but Parish antecedents says he will leave it until the day before summer transfer season closes so that there can be no disagreements over transfer budgets!

Palace should have been lining someone up, as others have said.
This though should mean someone has the job, and if so it could be announced next week. But if it doesn’t happen it will start to look as no body Palace wants, wants Palace. A bit pessimistic I know but there are not many will take this if the backup is similar to what Roy, got over four years. And I’m wondering where a transfer kitty is going to come from. Surely any manager with a reputation to build or rebuild is not going to gamble on an arrangement that amounts to one arm behind their backs.
If this is the case ,Lampard ,and Howe, would do better with WBA, simply because they will get enough to operate at a high level in the Championship, bolstering either CV. There doesn’t seem to have been an approach to Burnley, to talk to Dyche, so that can’t be going to happen that quick. And outside of real gambles and proven failures the situation looks difficult to say the least.

It may have been going on but has it got anywhere. I fear that nothing has been decided and we will end up running out of time resulting in the wrong appointment.

I really don’t think you can announce a new manager while Roy is still in the job. I believe they have someone lined up, if not we may be f***ed

Parish has (understandably) made a few mistakes in the past but he appears to have learned from them. For my money, it's all been sorted out.

On the basis that it’s been known for some time that Roy was leaving I’m fairly sure that an appointment will be announced shortly after this season ends.
The club must have been playing their cards close to their chest as no real concrete information as to the successor has emerged.
We’ve been linked with Howe, Dyche, Lampard and the Swansea and Barnsley managers which are a pretty disparate bunch in terms of experience and playing styles.
It’s a gamble because players can determine whether they are having a manager within the first week of appointment .
De Boer apparently gave a wonderful interview and had magnificent credentials as a player but he antagonised senior professionals shortly after commencing and we know how that ended.
If Lampard came in, for example , and brought in a few young players whom he selected over established players how would this go down with the squad? It is known he fell out with a number of senior players at Chelsea.
Doesn’t mean the same thing would happen again, but it surely has to be a consideration.
On the other hand somebody like Cooper has no track record in the Premier League and is an unknown quantity, particularly if early results went against him.
Dyche would seem to be the safest bet, but I can’t see that happening.
