Read up on our accounts, % wages to revenue, money lost each year, how hamstrung we are with regards to transfers, main stand to build with either US money gone or never there anyway, plus Badger’s post at 11.45am.

Palace should tell Man Utd we talk arfter the u21 tournament in Italy.

Should AWB have a good tournament the price goes through the roof

We could turn this into an auction.

Nonsense.

No club in the PL needs to sell players unless they decide it is a good option.

Selling should be on our terms at a time when we decide. Not when some big club wants to poach our players.

I swear that half our fans have been lobotomised.

You're Selling a very idealistic idea of modern football. Of course we shouldn't need to sell players and it should be on our Terms when it is, but with the amount Of money in football nowadays this is the harsh reality.

I'd Love for football to go back to the 80s way Of agentless players getting paid in peanuts and lager, and player power was a pipedream kept locked away in one of Brain Cloughs sock drawers. but it aint. It's a money making cash cow - one which as a result is much more Accessible to many fans than its 80s grandparent - with mercenery players (who may actually have some kind of future after retirement) and the threat of Liquidation over the next hill.

He's only had one season. It was reported he was having to be told by the centrebacks where to position himself. He gets caught out timing his forward runs so goals were being scored behind him during the latter part of the season. He really is not the finished article and it is no wonder he hasn't been called up to the senior England team yet.

Yes, he had a very good season and he has a lot of potential but he remains a bit of a gamble. I cannot see his value going up, beyond player inflation, so on balance I think selling for 50+ is the right thing to do.

Like every transfer in or out it could backfire. Most of us complained like crazy when Bolasie was sold but in hindsight we got the best of that particular deal.

Selling your best players is only likely to get you relegated. Then the financial brown stuff will surely hit the fan.

It is because of modern football revenues that PL teams do not need to sell.
I just don't see how selling AWB or Zaha will be anything more than a spiral down to relegation. It is not a long term solution.

As much as I don't want AWB to go, if Manure offer us 50 + million for him, it's a no brainer.

In some respects, Premier League football is harder for clubs of our size than being in the Championship.

Of course, our revenue is multiples higher, but we rank pretty low relative to the other clubs in the division. And we are minnows relative to some.

So, unless we outperform in transfers, we will -- other things being equal -- need to spend a greater proportion of our revenues to compete than would be the case in the Championship.

Of course, if we can stick around and boost non TV revenue streams, this dynamic can lessen. But only over the very long term since the biggest revenue booster -- a new stand -- requires major capex and servicing that capex.

We have to trade and trade brilliantly.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

If your best player is a right back then you're likely to get relegated.

AWB is the best full back I've seen at Palace since Ashley Cole on loan. However, £50-60m is incredible money and could allow us to strengthen in areas that would improve the team as a whole.

If AWB keeps Wilf - our best player IMO - and bring in a striker and someone of Aaron Mooy or Seri's ilk plus one or two frees that we might not have gone for then that would have more of an impact than keeping AWB.

Genuinely how many points do you think AWB won us last year compared to what a midfielder that could set up a striker or a striker that could finish would get us in comparison?

This re-iterates my viewpoint, expressed on HOL, that AWB is very much a work-in-progress and as such is certainly not the finished article.A winger converted to a right-back and he still has a lot to learn in this position.

His tackling is sublime at times, in a sanitised age - it's great to see perfectly timed tackles.

you know what...world record fee for a full back, 2nd highest ever fee for a defender...for a club like palace...f*** it! lets do it, he seems to want to want the move.

since promotion, on the whole its not been defending that has been our problem and it is a lot, an awful lot of money.

AWB is obviously f***ing quality but we cant hold him against his wishes, and if it helps us sign michi (or similar) then its all good with me.

as a club our size, you simply cannot turn down north of £50m for a full back.
