If this somehow did go wrong for Russia and they lost their gains in east and south Ukraine I'd be particularly more worried for us here and for those in the US.

We would be far closer to unofficial world war and infrastructure would be under threat. I don't think most people really understand how rough the consequences are for bad moves here....they think that this war isn't going to come to them.

I frigging hope they are right. Personally I think we are ruled by irresponsible and unrealistic fools.

'Irresponsible' and 'unrealistic' are unnecessary words there Stirling, your final one will do in encompassing all necessary descriptors.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Pretty much.

Been quietly watching the Ukrainian counter offensive.
It's been very successful with Russian front lines collapsing in many places, there is a danger the Ukr military could overreach & be forced back but right now Ukr continues to roll forward, fair play to them, following a wobbly start they've managed the Russian invasion impressively.

I do however remain convinced Russia will drop a low yield nuke somewhere in Ukraine if things go too south for them.

I would agree with this analysis. The only thing, I would add is I doubt the UKR will invade actual Russian soil, if they did all bets are off.

From what I'm seeing there are significant and intense battles going on now. Large numbers of soldiers fighting on multiple fronts.

Claims will be made by both sides but we won't know the genuine outcome on who holds what until these offensives and counter offensives are over.

Pro Russian maps over the last 36 hours

There could be upto 20,000 Russian/DPR forces holed up in Izyum completely cut off if Ukrainian forces continue to push.

Izyum now reportedly liberated.
Absolutely catastrophic for the Russians, they're not getting it back without considerable numbers.

W12 and the other Putin fans on here must be distraught.

Yeah, really distraught.

Just so cut up.

I mean I care about what happens to us and what the consequences are. You can care about the Ukraine and the lie that any of this is leading anywhere good for them or us.

The final outcome of all this offensive/counter offensive won't be known for at least another week or two. However, all I really care about is how it affects us.....and I don't think that kicking Russia is a win for us.

This should have been negotiated back in March and peace seems to get more distant as the absurdities and death and maimed totals get larger.

I'm no fan of Putin & I have maintained from the start alot of what has happened is due to the EU & NATO creeping ever closer to the Russian border & also the fact Russia needed little excuse to push for its reunification of the USSR under the banner of denazifying Ukraine.

My biggest concern is Russia will want to save face & with no diplomatic end to this war in sight if their front lines continue to melt there is the very real possibility of a low yield tactical nuke being used to force Zelensky to surrender, given I'm potentially down wind from that I'd rather it didn't happen.

There is also alot of chatter on twitter of the Russian Federation collapsing which would leave Nuclear/chemical weapons in the hands of feuding factions many of whom will look to the West for revenge.

It's great to see Ukraine making real gains however we shouldn't kid ourselves how unbelievably delicate the situation is.

A stalemate situation on the battlefields is only going to perpetuate significant hardships on those living in Europe. OK, I get the fact that a sovereign country has been illegally invaded and thus is a war crime in itself. What I seem to be missing the point of, is that a stalemate only benefits the arms manufacturers, and their shareholders.
Ukrainian citizens are being murdered daily, and the West watches and bemoans the financial hardships inflicted on everyone by political incompetence.

Some people are getting incredibly rich off the back of this. Arms companies, power suppliers, fuel suppliers, and now supermarkets are jumping on the bandwagon and ramping up prices for no fcking reason,..other than greed.
People are being murdered daily, and Western leaders (political and industrial) have their snouts in the trough, gorging themselves to death.

I disengage, I turn the page.

We are entering a critical phase of the war. I reckon the use of low yield battlefield nuke shells is a potential risk as the Russian forces rout. It is a probability if not a probable risk if UKR cross the border or try to retake the Crimea.
