Our scouting network has been pretty good in the last two Windows.
Steve learnt a lot in the first one with Holloway after promotion.
It's just a shame that in your eyes every club seems to be better than the Palace.
Yet we are the 14th best club in England.
You certainly don't get that feel on the HOL.

I'd say our manager(s) have been pretty good at identifying targets. If we appoint a manager without the same sort of contacts, we may well find ourselves in a bit of difficulty.

The generally acknowledged weaknesses of this club, that require serious investment, are the scouting network, the academy and the stadium and to pretend otherwise is to be in denial.

Instead of ranting perhaps you should try and construct a cogent argument without the theatrics and without telling others they're "off their heads".

I'd like a pound for the number of times I've heard how we're guaranteed to get a result against this or that team, because we are so superior to them, only to see us fail miserably. We underestimate Huddersfield, or any other team, at our peril.

If you'd actually read the article you'd see that most PL clubs, including Brighton, have a superior scouting network to us. How exactly are we to make these four or five additions to the squad without a manager? The idea that everything's fine, if we haven't made a managerial appointment by the time the season kicks off, is the real thinking of the madhouse.

I'm giving up being eloquent within posts, as I come on here and the same people keep harping on to the same tune, without having addressed my previous points.

I'm not reading an article about championship scouting networks if the posting of it is designed to be detrimental to our owner. The fact is we've been in the premier league for a record 4 seasons, why would I question how we go about business? Why would any of you when you know bugger all about how it works?

Lets just take things for face value, I'm not mentioning June 2010 any more but please, some perspective about his far we've come would be nice...speaking of which, no I would never bank on results against anyone, however I'm just trying to instil some kind of calm around here as most people seem to be getting their nickers all tangled on a daily basis.

Just chill out people, this constant flapping is totally unwarranted. At the very least let's keep this to "next manager discussion/updates" and the other Parish thread be for , well just that.

I'm coming on here to find out more, instead I just keep hearing how s*** the club is at everything.

Thanks

I don't think I've ever mentioned "stability"; your either confusing me with Theresa May or Steve Parish

I've long since given up hope of making a long-term managerial appointment, because apart from a few notable exceptions, they don't happen in football. If we could appoint someone who was here for two seasons before unexpectedly announcing his departure, I'd mark that up as a success.

I heard on TV one of the journalists who said that managers were really like consultants. They are appointed and after a year they are gone and someone else is appointed.

Once Sam got the four new lads in the
Improvement in the other seven was remarkable.
Hence the wins against Chelsea Arsenal Liverpool.

And if any or all of those four are injured? Or some other ever-present or two is/are out for the duration? We've already found out that you can't operate without adequate cover; it has nearly relegated us in the past. The most successful clubs have two first 11s and that's what we should be aiming for.

That is probably a good way to look at it Willo. Although it does rather fly in the face of what Parish said about wanting a long term appointment.

We released Campbell, Flamini, Fryers, Ledley and Remy so we need five players just to replace them let alone to upgrade the squad and when you say that with the players that we've got and no manager we should be able to beat Huddersfield you forget who gave Burnley their only away win at the end of the last season

The original post said that we "should be able to compete" with Huddersfield. We should all agree with that. The main problem is that this is a banana skin of an opening fixture, it is one we need to win.

It seems after all this searching we narrowed it down to 3. Who's you 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.

Mine is

1st de Boer , 2nd pellergino 3rd dyche

Like to hear yours

That would be mine also. For me FDB will have a greater impact on the structure of the club as well as helping develop the Academy and scouting setups due to his links with Ajax; however I think as a manager Pelligrino would have the edge AND has worked with Sammy lee before. Tough call, but i'd be happy with any of them to be fair at this juncture.

How about Pelligrino as Manager and FDB as Director Of Football??? Now THAT would be class and a real statement of intent!!

This reminds me of the start of last season when the Benteke saga was going on. West Brom at home first game should have been a decent fixture to set us on our way and we know how that turned out. No need to panic just yet, but it would be nice to start as we mean to go on. Seems to be the Palace way to have obstacles in the way though - such as no manager yet to prepare for our challenge ahead.

Perhaps we can blame the Tories...after all it's seems to be de rigueur to do so on pretty much every other thread

How many times-we get in the right manager FOR THE PLAYERS WE ALREADY HAVE-THIS IS WHY MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION IS SO IMPORTANT. We need possibly 4/5 additions to the SQUAD, even with the team that beat Hull and Sammy Lee in charge we will be able to compete with HUDDERSFIELD on the opening day, plus the 3/4 easyish fixtures that proceed. Some of you are saying you wish we had Brightons scouting network? Based on f***ing what? We've been in the premier league for 4 years under the stewardship of what we have, Brighton have not. I swear 90% of you are on here are off your heads.

I know its taking ages and its frustrating, but so far SP hasn't disappointed, he has tne clubs best interest at heart. So many factors could be affecting the reason for his appointment of a new manager, not something that is under his control. If he makes an appointment which doesn't work out, it'll be SP out blah blah, so then back to finding a new manager, it all costs a lot of money, I too want to know who our next manager is but I rather wait a little longer and try have the right manager in place to take us forward, I'm sure Sammy Lee could look after the team for a bit with his buddy Big Sam at the end of phone for advice, I'm probably wrong but we may have a pleasant surprise coming. I think let SP get on with it. COYP!
