Agreed. Excepting that it was foreseen. That the populist driven Brexit of the right wing of the Tories would ultimately ruin their reputation was always on the cards. The pandemic and the Ukraine war has just advanced it's arrival. No UK political party can hope to remain in power for long unless they occupy the centre and adopt a flexible pragmatic approach. That this disappoints ideologues from both the left and the right doesn't make it any less true than it's ever been. While you're here, would you care to concede that Caxton did not invent the printing press? I await with some anticipation to see if you can admit error even through gritted teeth with fingers crossed. Edited by HKOwen (18 Nov 2022 8.44am)
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

I think you misinterpreted He thought he had lost some history and had been left behind. That previously happened to me for a short while

In making the point I forgot he was the one who first brought it to England and popularised it, introducing a much improved version of the one developed in Europe by Gutenberg, but that the technique was used in China much earlier than that. So Caxton developed the modern press, rather than actually invented it. As I have spent a lot of time in Heidelberg I ought to have remembered that!
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

That previously happened to me for a short while I've noticed this as well, I suspect that somebody has started to add a post and hasn't finished it for whatever reason. It should just time out and that person would have to begin again however that hasn't happened so the thread is hung. Anyway that is my guess. That said CP was constantly asking to be bumped he did seem to want to keep this thread at the top of the message board. Edited by Badger11 (18 Nov 2022 9.29am)

I worked for the print company Heidelberg for 10 Years on the pre-press side. Working on the machines that lasered the film or plates. Spent a lot of time there myself. One memorable weekend when we beat brighton 3-2 at their place. I was dancing on the table of the Irish bar.

Yes, the emojis got a bit much but he seemed to be having a good time. It's unfortunate when anyone (with the odd exception) gets banned. It helps to remember the Palace connection - funny to think that some posters who go at it hammer and tongs would probably get on if they actually met each other.
