It's a non discussion really as they were clearly Trump supporters, and the onus is on people grabbing desperately for any passing conspiracy theory to prove their latest one. Inevitably they fall apart with a 5 second Google search and instead of reflection, they're onto the next one. I hope for the President sake that he is not even more closely linked to what went down than is currently known. Edited by BlueJay (07 Jan 2021 11.16pm)

It is very sad that a woman was shot and killed, but i am surprised it is only 1. There is a video of the incident out there, you can see the cop with his gun drawn, pointing at them, you cannot hear what he is saying, but i can only guess he is yelling warnings to not come any closer. So when she climbs through the broken window, with a backpack on mind you, what is a police officer to do in this unprecedented situation ? You shoot as a last resort in this situation, but when you do, you shoot to kill. Many of these people will be made extreme examples of, some will go down for 20 years. They just dont know it yet, they think themselves part of some revolution, but a large part of any backing they might of had was lost when they invaded the capitol like this. Another note, there was a guy roaming around videoing the protestors during and after, asking what they had done and who they were and where they were from. Quite a few admitted their crimes and gave their names and origins, on video. You cant make this up. Several prominent members of the proud boys and QANON where caught on camera doing naughty things, you can be sure they will be targeted for maximum prosecution.

And with history showing that he was robbed of victory in 2020? This story is not over yet. He has been a disaster. The worst President ever. That the economy did OK in the first 3 years was simply him riding a wave. He didn't actually do that much, other than give tax breaks to his friends. How on earth you can still suggest he was robbed of victory in 2020 beats me. He lost in a landslide. History will not be kind to Trump. He failed. His job was to make people's lives better and he has made them worse. There are clearly deep problems in the USA which a significant group hoped he would solve. For them at least, even if by doing so he would make bigger problems elsewhere. He even failed them, although they don't yet seem to realise it. And that doesn't even begin to mention the trade wars, the climate ignorance and foreign policy stupidity. Nor the aggression towards migrants or natural allies. In 4 years he has taken the USA from being the shining light of democracy to clown status.

Hence why I said 'normality' returns. But please, when the bombing does start, lets not bore us all with how much you dislike it when it is patently clear that you would rather have a President in charge who does happily order it all.
Nor is it a given that I am even pleased that Joe Biden is President or imagine he's going to transform the countries fortunes in some profoundly positive way. I'm not opting into the Punch and Judy show thanks, the whole thing is a farce. I can quite easily believe that Trump is repugnant and largely without morals (though admittedly he has great comic timing and the ability to 'riff') without it meaning that I have some kind of undying love for ol' Joe Biden. Whether what replaces Trump is better or worse who knows, it was a decision for the American people (and outside of desperation and eye spinning conspiracies and lies a decision that was resoundingly made), and it will be what it will be. I do believe Trump has through his behaviour, knocked the moral fibre out a lot of people, but I have no particular love for any politician or party. More often than not it's many of the same puppet masters pulling their strings. At this point in time upping sticks and living in the forest sounds like a more sensible move than casting a vote. Lincoln couldn't stop the country depending into civil war and around one million Americans's died.

If civil war is indeed a possibility, which I don't believe is actually very likely in 2021, then Trump has increased that rather than lessen it. There are significant numbers of people who now don't trust either their elected representatives, public servants or the media. That has been encouraged and exacerbated by Trump for his own benefit. He has milked genuine reasons for dissatisfaction among some who believed they were marginalised and ignored, and used them as an army of useful idiots for his own purposes. He is 100% fake. A con man at best and a mob boss at worst.
