There are realistically only two reasons for this continuing delay and you've covered them both. Either we are genuinely interested in de Boer and/or Pellegrino, but one or both want to try their chances with Southampton first. Or, or maybe because of the previous point, we have latterly decided we'd like to give Dyche a run out (although why we didn't start the process earlier heaven alone knows).

There is a risk here that we could end up with no one if our tactic of trying to play both ends against the middle fails. I much prefer the Watford-style of recruitment; select target, make it happen, end of. It's not like we have a better record than them as far as revolving door management is concerned, despite all of our supposed careful work in making an appointment.

Silva is their 9th manager since the Pozzo family took over the club in June 2012 with the longest staying about 1.5 years !

How many times-we get in the right manager FOR THE PLAYERS WE ALREADY HAVE-THIS IS WHY MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION IS SO IMPORTANT. We need possibly 4/5 additions to the SQUAD, even with the team that beat Hull and Sammy Lee in charge we will be able to compete with HUDDERSFIELD on the opening day, plus the 3/4 easyish fixtures that proceed. Some of you are saying you wish we had Brightons scouting network? Based on f***ing what? We've been in the premier league for 4 years under the stewardship of what we have, Brighton have not. I swear 90% of you are on here are off your heads.

Instead of ranting perhaps you should try and construct a cogent argument without the theatrics and without telling others they're "off their heads".

I'd like a pound for the number of times I've heard how we're guaranteed to get a result against this or that team, because we are so superior to them, only to see us fail miserably. We underestimate Huddersfield, or any other team, at our peril.

If you'd actually read the article you'd see that most PL clubs, including Brighton, have a superior scouting network to us. How exactly are we to make these four or five additions to the squad without a manager? The idea that everything's fine, if we haven't made a managerial appointment by the time the season kicks off, is the real thinking of the madhouse.

We released Campbell, Flamini, Fryers, Ledley and Remy so we need five players just to replace them let alone to upgrade the squad and when you say that with the players that we've got and no manager we should be able to beat Huddersfield you forget who gave Burnley their only away win at the end of the last season

We will not replace any of them.
Any upgrades will be to the starting 11.

You praise the Watford style of recruitment yet want stability at Palace.?

Our problem last season was not our starting 11, but the lack of strength in depth to replace them when they weren't available for whatever reason. If we don't learn from the mistakes of the past, then we are doomed to keep repeating them.

Four weeks to recruit a manager having been through this process regularly since returning to the Premier league is ludicrous.

Surely SP along with the other directors should continuously update a short list of 3 to 4 candidates so that when the need arises the process can be concluded within a much shorter timeframe ie: a week after having conducted 3 or 4 interviews ?

I wonder what damage would have been done if we were in the middle of a difficult season and waiting this long to recruit a new manger ?

13 days and counting until the start of pre-season, let's hope that we are more prepared than we were for the opener against WBA last season.

Our scouting network has been pretty good in the last two Windows.
Steve learnt a lot in the first one with Holloway after promotion.
It's just a shame that in your eyes every club seems to be better than the Palace.
Yet we are the 14th best club in England.
You certainly don't get that feel on the HOL.

I don't think I've ever mentioned "stability"; your either confusing me with Theresa May or Steve Parish

I've long since given up hope of making a long-term managerial appointment, because apart from a few notable exceptions, they don't happen in football. If we could appoint someone who was here for two seasons before unexpectedly announcing his departure, I'd mark that up as a success.

The problem was clearly the lads were not playing as a team for Pardew.
Once Sam got the four new lads in the
Improvement in the other seven was remarkable.
Hence the wins against Chelsea Arsenal Liverpool.

Conversely Dyche could put an immediate end to the speculation by issuing a statement to that effect, if he really has no interest in the Palace job.

Absolutely.

I sometimes wonder if Sky are bunging clubs a few quid to allow these stories to circulate. Keeps up interest in SSN, their website & the papers they're connected with.
