Agreed. How old ?

I am not qualified to judge what is appropriate. I guess it will depend on circumstances. The decisions must be taken by those with knowledge and experience and in the light of what is happening in society.

At all times what matters is that the children's best interests are paramount. If that means they need to know some things, sobeit.

What cannot be allowed to be paramount are parent's prejudices. Which is what some feel are more important than the children's best interests.

So you'd agree with your children being exposed to drag acts? Even though earlier you said you wouldn't.

That's quite an interesting reply! Interesting in that not one word of it actually has anything at all to do with the points I was making. Almost everything you write above would not be disputed by me, excepting, of course, your silly misrepresentation of my own approach. For the record, of course I don't think anyone should talk about sex to very young children. What a disgusting misrepresentation of what I actually wrote!

What this tends to prove is that either you genuinely don't understand the issues or, more likely in my opinion, don't want to acknowledge and address them because to do so would pull the rug from under your whole hypothesis.

I am not in any way defending anyone. A defence is not needed. I am criticising the way the right wrongly describe criminals and now, in the USA, are attacking a whole section of society based solely on their prejudices.

So rather than deflect again perhaps you would try to actually face the issue. Why do the right do this? What are they hoping to achieve by it? I can see no benefit politically. Is it just to keep the base energised and to give them some red meat to chew and their eyes away from troubling internal strife?

The right attack child grooming to expose it.

You attack those pointing it out by using deflection.

You regularly accuse your political opponents of the very behaviour you exhibit.

Ok go back to when you were younger and you just had chavvies. How old would be acceptable for your kids to sit with a real made up drag queen wearing its Sunday best regalia of virtually nothing. Not the kiddies show type like cinders etc but real flat out drags.?

This is what I've been attacking and every right minded person should.

This is why I and others have been attacked with deflections and insults by those who wish to find reasons for attacking those who point out the abuse of children.

I recommend that you do not click on the link if you are sensitive or easily shocked over what's being normalised here.

Yes, and panto should be banned too for under 18s

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

Not sure this proves what you think it does. Looks like it's the 'drag brunch', which takes place in a commercial establishment and appears to be pretty popular with a wide wide range of Floridians if the photos on the website are anything to go by, there's a kids menu so I guess it's common for under 12's to go. It's not something I'd really go for but it's also completely different to having a fully dressed drag queen reading a story in a public library. is it any worse than those weird pre-teen beauty contests? They were freaky, but seemed strangely popular in Republican states. America can be a very odd place.

For me, I have no beef whatsoever with these shows, these life decisions and such events. Each to their own as far as I am concerned and whilst very far away from 'being for me' it isn't too hard to understand that you (I) are not everybody and have little say in what other people enjoy, find entertaining and want to do. When I say people, more specifically, I mean 'grown adults'.

However, the condoning of something like this as entertainment for children must firstly cross the boundary of exposing children to sexually explicit material. That should definitely be a crime.

Secondly, I remain resolute in the fact that anybody who does will be doing so as they themselves are in some way unhappy and unsettled in life and unfortunately now can procreate themselves, or now indeed adopt, or have responsibility for children. They therefore see this sort of thing as almost anarchic and counter-cultural so therefore want to indoctrinate young people into their way of thinking as whatever society had previously dictated did not/is not working for them. Whilst societies have often fallen foul to the tyrannical dictators or dictatorships general consensus is broadly determined by the majority on things and not many places better than in the west.

This is anti-societal. There's a reason we protect children from sexually explicit 'things' which need or should not require explaining to any healthy individual. There's a difference between 'I am not going to dress like everyone else, like my niche music, find x interesting though others do not, no I will not do/be whoever you want me to be and so forth', which is all perfectly acceptable and should be embraced, and saying 'I hate the world and therefore am going to take children to see almost fully naked adults strutting around in a sexual environment and f**k you if you disagree or better still, f**k you and aspersions on you if you do not actively support this'.

For me this is similar to my young self being marched into a boxing gym as this was seen as a 'correct thing to do' for a young boy however within that environment my head might have been at physical risk however it did not actively seek to distort my psychology nor sexualise me criminally prematurely. Again, there is a reason we do not do this to children and it need'nt be explained. Ay endorsement of it should be scanned for mental health or potential other explanations before the full weight of discipline is applied.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

As my children are now grandparents themselves that's not something I need to concern myself with.

I would trust those with the knowledge to decide what is needed and would anticipate that meant my own instincts would be verified. If they weren't then I would acknowledge superior knowledge, even if it meant I personally felt uncomfortable.

Sorry but I have no idea what that means.

Good post.

I think I have drag fatigue....this stuff kind of sullies you after a bit.

I think I'll put on 'The Good Life' from the early eighties and look at normal people again.
