I bet they're sh*tting themselves about that Willo ... Willow please keep your season ticket! It is probably Wilf more than anything else which has saved us from relegation and it probably IS time for him to move on. Palace have previously expressed interest in both McCarthy and Tosun, and they are both decent midtable team players, which is where we aspire to. It really isn’t realistic to aspire to top 6 unless you have a moneybags billionaire owner, which we don’t have. We are desperately short of good PL players and to have two more would be a relief this near to the end of the window?

AWB going to Man Utd and Wilf going to a bigger club than Everton actually promote our academy in a big way. Fair point, but Everton are hardly small beans. It's not as if Salford City have made a bid. Plus, Wilf's already done the MU thing - if you want to give our academy due credit.

One will be a midfielder we don’t need and we’re trying to buy a bigger prospect from Real Betis. We’ll have £45 mil after paying Man U off to evolve the team without Wilf, which will have to cover wages as well. I’m not struck on this deal because it smacks of acceptance rather than wanting these players Everton ARE TRYING TO GET RID OF because they aren’t very good. I would also add that Wilf's "previous" at MU may have put off some genuinely CL teams - where it's all about "system" rather than "flair"

Everton are not Barcelona though, when you said you’d prefer the extra £1 mil from Everton. All irrelevant as Wilf would demand to Parish its Barcelona anyway.

Edited by Rudi Hedman (06 Aug 2019 10.35am) Sometimes the "fit" isn't there - Roy might well be able to get better performances out of Tiusun than Silva could. Teams try to get rid of Players who have the quality but just don't gel - extreme examples: Sanchez, Bale, Pogba & Neymar

OK - my example was deliberately extreme to make a point. But it's Palace's duty to get the best deal possible, not get knickers in a twist about the credentials of the purchaser.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle Everton came out and categorically said a deal involving these players was fake news and that they would not be bidding again. It would be pretty bizarre if they then offered exactly what they said was a lie?! There is the possibility I suppose that they decide to come back with a straight cash offer, but I would say it's pretty long odds. Edit: Parish statement was from a previous window so removed. The fact Parish has now said he won't be going probably puts this to bed anyway. I quite like the idea of Everton stating that they hadn't thought about money plus players until Sky gave them the idea. Or that the players themselves thought it was a good deal.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle I fail to understand why all this speculation has started again. In the meantime they have signed a striker that has some similar attributes as Wilf, Wilf himself as returned to training, been modelling the new Palace away kit and quoted somewhere as saying he is getting ready for the opener AGAINST Everton. But since one agency has stoked up a rehashed story, which the Indipendant has picked up on, bout the 2 players coming our way and a bit more money everyone has got worried again.

Living proof that it's the football journalists in this country who actually mould the future. A chuck away concept in a wine bar becomes a "sky sources understand / daily mail understands" which becomes reality.
