Exactly. There are two points here: 1. The articulation of "Alignment of the word 'groomer' with homosexuals is..." is not very hard. The statement does not do this, it looks to quite clearly be stating "you can't call anyone/use the word groomer and if you do, it's a hate crime". A 'groomer' being a paedophile targeting children for sexual exploitation. It's seeking to remove the usage of a word employed to identify such peoples. 2. The individual making this statement and his association with pro-paedophile activity and campaigning. A poignant conclusion is quite easily drawn from this and the point of ridiculing and damning those seeking to align non-heterosexuals with paedophilia is quite easily made. The statement does not do this, from a supposed public figure whose job revolves around the necessity for such clarity and articulation. Edited by Nicholas91 (24 Nov 2022 10.58am) That may well be the interpretation of anyone unfamiliar with the the current situation in the USA, as I was until I listened to the podcast. I had never heard of this Senator before but I have now taken a look at what he does. He obviously speaks out in defence of the LGBT communities and this tweet must be seen in that context. Whilst what “groomer” means to us might seem obvious, in the USA it has taken on another meaning due to the slander from the right. It’s not the first time they have distorted English! So it’s unwise to rush to judgment. Do listen to the podcast and also try to read both his tweets and the responses. It’s not at straightforward as perhaps it first appears.

I have no knowledge of the background of the tweeter . What it says is self explanatory, clue is, read the words. I don't think the background of every tweeter needs to be investigated and then the tweet interpreted. Simple rule is don't tweet what you don't mean Edited by HKOwen (24 Nov 2022 12.43pm) Edited by HKOwen (24 Nov 2022 12.44pm)
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Pedantry at it's absolute worse. We all know Faggot is a Northern delicacy as well.

Oh he meant it! In the context of its meaning in the USA and not that we might think it means here. If an American said he wanted to use the bathroom we know they need the toilet and not take a shower! That’s because we have grown used to the variation in meaning. This is new, but I guess we will have to.

Musk has been banning child exploitation accounts on Twitter. Apparently there were many of them. The question could be asked why they were there before Musk took over.....I expect their owners would claim that they were educational. [Tweet Link]

[Tweet Link] Excellent but I bet the MSM wont make a big deal out of it. They would rather focus on him sacking staff whilst Zuckerberg barely gets a mention.

[Tweet Link] This was a new story for me, but having now read a little, it seems that several hashtags have been used to sell child p***.graphy via Twitter and have now been taken down. Why they weren't in the past is a legitimate question but, as the target market was paedophiles, perhaps that might have been to help the authorities trace them, rather than to force them out of sight on the dark web. That's just a guess and we may never know. It does though seem irrational. Musk is also doing some irrational things, like restoring banned accounts just because his users think he should, rather than review what they post, having previously announced the establishment of a "moderation board". Twitter under Musk looks as organised and logical as a box of frogs. Carry on like this and the world's richest man could easily be cancelled!

What Musk actually said was as long as they haven't broken the law. One of the major complaints about social media is about people who have been banned for no logical reason and being unable to restore their account. This is mainly done by AI rather than a human being. The other day an Instagram user who is an astronomer had their account banned for nudity, they had posted a picture of a asteroid. This will help a lot of people unfairly banned, of course if someone abuses this they will get banned again.
