Let's not run scared of this terrorist threat. We're English, have a siege mentality and let's rise up as one and not let those who want to cause maiximum distruction succeed.

Yes,the dickhead did. It does seem strange though to be the only bus bombing when the pattern of attacks was directed at stations. Also,to be the first suicide bomber, wouldn`t you perhaps make your target that much more significant? Not saying that the bus was INsignificant, you understand. There`s a guy on the BBS who claims to have info from a top brass which could well just be a theory but nevertheless it`s interesting.Don`t shoot me down. The bus blowing up was a mistake. It was merely the delivery service for a terrorist who was bringing a bomb to another staion and went of mistakenly. If it was meant to go off on a bus,it would have benn based on the lower deck for maximum effect. Thinking about it,this is very plausible. This has been noted so far as the very first suicide bomber in Britain. It may not have been a suicide bomber at all.Just another lunatic on his way to take out another station? Didn't some IRA dickhead accidentally blow himself and a bus up accidentally a few years back on his way to plant the bomb?

Someone just asked a similar question at the Emergency Services briefing about whether the bus explosion was a mistake. The guy who answered said he didn't know, and that it was possible it was intended for a tube station but that it did occur half an hour after the previous one so maybe it was intended for the bus.

I think the Mods should pin this thread, it gives an historical record as the day unfolded and what people were hearing, doing, worrying about at the time.

As Danny Butterfield wheeled away, arms aloft in celebration of his third goal – an expression of delight and astonishment on his face – a man seated beside me in the stands turned to his young son and told him that he would remember this moment for the rest of his life. I will too. |

Possible... but the Madrid bombing was a bus also. I thought Madrid was an intercity train?
