Where were these predictions, I have never heard of them Philippines and Thailand, more so in Philippines, are now swamped with boorish old Korean men marrying young women, the M/F ratio is Korea is 1:1. They were predictions made in the Philippine media 15 to 20 years ago and the subject of chatter in the ex-pat community. I haven't spent much time there for 5 years, just visiting for a couple of weeks and not spending any time in the cities, so haven't seen what you describe, or heard about it.

What is hypocritical is being 'attracted' to the opposite of what you promote to others. Your promote diversity and multiculturalism but you don't live within it. Sure, lots of people love 'rural environment', civil and well kept places....yeah shocking that one. I'm sure there are plenty of 'diverse' places like Cornwall all over the world....according to you you've been over a fair lot of it......yet look where Cornwall ends up....superglued to whitey in Cornwall. If you aren't attracted to what you promote for others then you will always be called out for it....if you don't like it, tough. Edited by Stirlingsays (05 Jun 2023 5.10am) I am not "promoting" anything to others! Another ridiculous concept. Others can make up their own minds on what is important to them. I am describing what's important to me. What I say about immigration has no bearing at all on it. Immigrants can also decide where they want to live and tend to go where the work is. If they retire here maybe they will come to Cornwall. Many come on holiday so will likely fall in love as I did. I have lived all over the UK, and for a while partly in the Philippines, whilst visiting many other places. Cornwall has long held a special place in my heart. It is now my home. Your attitude on this is bonkers and it will be called out every time you display it.

All those desperately needed fruit pickers and agricultural workers must find more work in London.

During the tightest part of the Covid Lockdown, there were still plane-loads of Fruit Pickers arriving in from Eastern Europe. And of course the fields they were working were within earshot of some drunken sleeping dole-heads. You cannot really blame the employers. Hire Foreign or let the fruit rot in the fields. Generous Dole at home causes immigration. And again its the fault of shyte governments. Across much of Europe, Farmers cannot recruit locals to work. Hence they bring the work in from poorer countries. Migration is fueled by employment demand. Which is fueled by local decadence. Many agricultural workers suffer awful deprivations and work morning, noon and night. Its mostly single childless men. In Ireland, many dole-heads have a ton of kids, a car, and an X-Box. We are living in the Last Days of Rome folks. This Civilisation is close to imploding under the weight of its own contradictions. It seems the fruit and veg pickers come from particular countries and follow a pattern of moving around as crops become ready for harvest. They though don't settle and go home in the winter, returning again the following year. They are barely visible, as they work long hours and tend to stay in mobile homes provided by their employers. I saw an interview with a few of them on local TV a while back. They seemed a cheerful bunch, full of smiles and stories. Don't see them as city types.

Edited by ASCPFC (05 Jun 2023 10.46am) I recognise the picture you paint here too, but it's not immigrants involved. It's the workshy among those born here. In trying to help those genuinely in need, too many are prepared and able to milk the system. I would expect this is well understood but difficult to impossible to deal with without risking harm to those in need. Not easy to find the right balance, frustrating though it is. I have had tenants who seem perfectly capable of work who sit around all day watching TV, playing games, smoking weed or worse. Then I have others determined to get themselves straight and desperate to find work.

Presumably waiting to fill their positions in the NHS.

But immigration is a political hot potato. Because although immigration provides plenty of workers to fill needed gaps in industry, there is a perception (rightly or wrongly) that illegal immigration is actually becoming a massive financial and social burden. And no-one at the top seems capable of doing anything. The attached is Rishi today. The same photo could be use for the next 2 years, or so, then a new PM will be chanting the same mantra.

A disingenuous point, you will be long gone before the issues elsewhere are visited upon Cornwall in significance. The very fact that you get to enjoy what your politics will destroy for those coming after is precisely why your hypocrisy will be pointed out. Huge selfishness.....instead of planting trees, whose shade you will never sit in....you are part of ripping them up from their roots. So you can make as many deflections as you like it won't stop me from stating the truth. Edited by Stirlingsays (05 Jun 2023 6.24pm)
