The footprint could remain the same and the roof could be replaced with something more in keeping with the main stand. Just time wasting of course, but it would be nice to know why this couldn't happen from someone who knows about building. The camera platform will be removed, and I expect the club will remove the uprights and support the roof from above in the nearish future as a shorter term improvement. Stands and stadiums are very different and harder things to construct that your usual office or resi projects which also still have to go through all the pre con phases, hence why the stand is taking a while. Not like have a Russian oligarch backing the project either that will just proceed with everything no expensive spared / money no object etc Edited by akiisalegend (08 Jul 2024 4.25pm) Edited by akiisalegend (08 Jul 2024 6.20pm)
I know many people who are high up in construction game and was part of Cardiff stadium project when that was constructed and are now part of the Etihad new project. (They have worked on many other hundreds all over the world) 10+ years you claim please provide the evidence on this claim. You may be getting confused with phased works which can and does take many years but this is by design which can be for many reasons. To build 1 stand would not take 10 years that would cost a fortune. No such thing as harder to construct. It takes around 5 years to build a stadium 1-2 years with all the planning and other requirements.

Your estimate above may be slightly out as palace have been looking at the new stand for more than 5 years now with no spades in the ground although I may just be misreading your point. Tbh prolonged design stages isn't uncommon with some football clubs as it tends to be quite a stop start process whilst they rework design, financing and unique to sports clubs, how the teams are doing in the league. Forest Green Rovers is a sad example of this but hopefully they'll continue with it. What do you mean by no such thing as harder to construct? Of course there is? Even as a basic example a bungalow is harder to construct than a shed? Edited by akiisalegend (16 Jul 2024 5.52pm) Edited by akiisalegend (16 Jul 2024 6.42pm)

the thing is I went up to Villa season before last expecting their old corrugated iron stand with the Villa motif perched on top as in all the photos of the ground, but it wasn't there. It had been replaced by a nice modern stand and I'd never heard a dicky bird about it. Whereas our attempts to improve the stadium have been a long drawn out soap opera/PR exercisde starting with the new stadium plan for Crystal Palace Park's national stadium back in 2012ish hence the general cynicism and impatience.

His money has run out as costs spiralled so he has been doing the structural work with help from his pal Mark Bright.

All projects are different. This one especially so due to the complexities, not of the build per se, but the process just to get to breaking ground.
