I remember the case. I don't think that they closed their business, It was in Marazion which isn’t too far from where I live. I remember it closing and seeing it boarded up. I believe it has reopened and by whom and as what I am not sure. I’ll take a look next time I go there.

No they weren't. In my opinion, that of the trial judge, the appeal court and many others he had been discriminated against by the refusal of a sub contractor to complete their work because of a personal objection to something they had no right to be concerned in. It was only lost when the Supreme Court held that the discrimination wasn’t direct in a strictly legal sense. Hence the need for new legislation to clarify. This was a technical victory. Not a moral one.

Sh1te law. So let's get this right. A production company can hire a black woman to play Ann Boleyn and anyone objecting to this historical abuse gets called a 'racist' and has to tread carefully. But if an 'ethnic' restaurant doesn't want whitey serving up their grub that's totally fine? Man, this country is frigging hilarious. Edited by Stirlingsays (02 Jan 2023 12.51am) Well, the good news is that, whilst this dispensation was originally included in early anti discrimination law on the ground of ‘authenticity’ it appears to have been removed. Similarly there is no such exemption in the USA although there such laws only apply if you have at least 15 employees. Edited by Mapletree (02 Jan 2023 10.58am)

Not a moral one. They were charged with discriminating against him because he was a homosexual. Clearly they were not doing that. It was so clear that it is hard to not come to the conclusion that the original judge (who had form in other matters) and the appeal court were more concerned in pursuing a political agenda than making an objective judgement.

Crikey. I didn’t expect this It is somewhat insightful I agree. He's a bit of a political jackhammer when he needs to be, and was obviously trying to appeal to a base that laps that up for a time. Now that he's not headline news, occasionally he says something that actually resonates more widely and hits on a truth. As in, clearly he's largely right in what he says here.
