I often here those on the left make this point about whites. So what, it's not as if 'people of colour' (probably the most trite progressive phrase) vote for white politicians is it? Look at London now, or mainly Muslim areas. Edited by Stirlingsays (16 Oct 2022 3.53pm) I see what you’re saying, but with Hindu voters I don’t think you get the same (voting for the same). It wouldn’t surprise me if the members refused to vote for a Muslim who is in fact Hindu and not Muslim.

Intelligent, educated people vote for the best candidate, whatever the colour of their, or the candidate’s, skin might be, Only the ignorant and uneducated are racist, and unfortunately they exist everywhere and come in many shades.

I've not seen any statistics that show a difference there but I certainly agree with you that Hindu communities appear better at integration and more open to western social conservativism rather than their own. However, like I say that's anecdotal.

I doubt there are many, or any white labour MP’s or candidates in London now. It’s another form of marketing

So freedom of choice now makes you a racist. Maybe the khant effect where he wants to cut down on western values creates these ‘racists’. A Muslim example for people not to follow!

I have some sympathy with Liz Truss in that, even if her polices had been great (they were hopeless) she and we are the captive of 'markets'. And even more of bankers particularly the BOE who seem to lead us into disaster and always come up smelling of roses at our expense.

Surely the only thing that does is whether they are competent? I would be as critical of a political party selecting on skin colour as I would be of anyone else!

Of course but the suspicion is that in London MPs and councillors are being elected on that basis regardless of ability.

Corny fantasist. You might have missed that I didn’t say that people don’t do it! Only that if they do they are either ignorant or uneducated. The ignorant will probably always be with us. You have only to look at the USA to realise that. Education can gradually improve things for those with minds able to accept change.
