I think that is pure guesswork. I have bored myself silly reading the articles of association and clause 8 states that the chairman shall not have a casting vote I think as long as Parish has the support of Harris, Blitzer and the bloke with 5% it's irrelevant as that gives him a majority to outvote Textor. Maybe Textor thought he could get his way by getting one of those three to switch and has now thrown his toys out of the pram as they are solid behind Steve? Edited by Badger11 (29 May 2024 8.08am)

I still find it odd that Textor would have put himself in this position in the first place. My theory is that he maybe thought he would be able to buy out one or more of the others to get control. He either has never been able to pull the cash together to do that or they didn't want to sell. Its only a theory but I can't believe he bought a large parcel of shares without having a planned route to a majority shareholding.
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that. |

I personally think that he rushed into becoming a shareholder in CPFC, somewhat seduced by the possibility of having a share in a PL club, which would bolster the public face image of Eagle football, once in the door he probably thought that by becoming a majority shareholder he would be able to apply some pressure in the boardroom to be able to change the voting structure without too much opposition - Kinda feels like he overplayed his hand a bit. Wild speculation but perhaps one of the other shareholders hinted that Parish needed to be reigned in and that Textor would have their support. And maybe Parish was getting too cocky and did need this, being reigned in though is not the same as allowing someone else to control the club. Whatever the truth Textor clearly decided that as he wasn't getting his way and as he has a major debt problem with Lyon selling Palace might solve a few problems. Whether he actually buys Everton is another matter. As an Everton financial expert pointed out if he was serious why show his hand? So perhaps Textor is all Smoke and Mirrors in this case, we shall see.

There is an awful lot of pure speculation in this thread that is actually based on nothing

It would be a really quiet chat site if we only discussed things which we knew to be facts with absolute certainty! We are allowed to speculate and some of us are probably not far from the truth. Originally posted by Midlands Eagle

I agree although unlike some I dont believe there are any hard feelings on either side now he has decided to move on.

My 2 pence is pretty much what's been stated in the newspapers. The other shareholders don't want to buy into his model of rotating players through his clubs. Quite rightly so in my opinion. Why on earth would Palace want to hand Lyon players on the cheap. Especially through the much improved youth system. If Textor owns the club outright then he has a full say on the matter. Luckily he doesn't at Palace and I feel that's where his judgement has ere'd. Frankly, I'm glad he's trying to sell up. Goodluck and adios. I'd laugh if SJ buys a small share back into Palace. Probably not though.
