A different stitch-up to the expected one, questionable policing and perverse politics are where we are. Most things look pretty rotten in the UK.

It's how it works. So you don"t pin any blame on the leader- just because a different leader might be just as bad?The leader just loves your sort, you could go out and get your head kicked in,say in manchester, get up and say-" but if i went out in Glasgow I might have been killed!"

Cressida Dick has managed to pi55 off all sides with her politicking. Her handling of Extinction Rebellion, BLM protests, the terrible murder of Sarah Everard etc etc, the failure to deal with a culture of unacceptable behaviour in a minority of the Met, and now this Partygate issue. How much more clear does it need to be that she is not fit to be running the Met and a new broom is needed. Edited by HKOwen (29 Jan 2022 10.23pm)
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

With the Met now involved as well our Country has lost its perspective. What has it got to do with the media (leaving aside the "left wing" nonsensical slur)? They are only reporting the events. The opposition may well be useless, but the government are presenting an open goal every 10 minutes. If Palace played as badly Truro City reserves would beat them. Anyone who cannot see that we need to ensure integrity and honesty in politics if we are to ensure it in our society in general, needs their head examined. They may have been small transgressions, unimportant if held by anyone outside of government. But held at the centre of government, in the way, and at the time, they were, means their significance is far greater than the events themselves. Anyone with an ounce of decency would have fallen on their sword a long time ago.

Edited by HKOwen (29 Jan 2022 10.23pm) I don't blame her for Everard but 100 agree that she should have been replaced a long time ago. Put there by a conservative home secretary and was awful from the start.

Anyone who thinks there has ever been, or ever will be, integrity and honesty in politics, needs their head examined (and their eyesight and hearing.)

As for the police criminal investigation: My understanding is that if anyone is guilty they will face a £100 fine and no criminal record it is the equivalent of a speeding fine. From a legal point of view it is no big deal, from a political point of view that is entirely different matter. So why on earth are the police treating this as a major crime scene. Dickless should have told Sue Gray to go ahead and publish her report in full the police would then interview and fine any named culprits. We are not talking about derailing a murder enquiry.
