I know this is going to be a very left field suggestion, but I'd like to see Gary White get a chance. When I was singing Graham Potter's praises at Ostersunds I was told he was too untested at the "top" level, bound to fail etc. He went on to shut everyone up, and is now linked with the Spurs job. White has the adaptability and faith in youth to really do something at Palace. In all his national team jobs he's managed to take unfancied sides and get results they've never been able to match before or since, while also overhauling the domestic systems in those countries. At club level, he's always ended up at a team with either no money or already looking doomed to get relegated, and saved them each time. At Shanghai Shenxin they were in real trouble and managed to stay up, only to sack him for a more famous manager who overspent and saw the side fold a year later. His time at Tokyo Verdy was marred by a lack of board backing and a slow start, and they parted ways just as his methods were starting to pay off. At Nantong Zhiyun he took over a side midway through the season, to survival on the last day - beating the champions - before being replaced by a popular Chinese player getting his first job in a bid to boost support - they barely survived last season once again. At Suzhou Dongwu he'd actually been appointed while football was on hold, and as such was able to build a team from scratch - unlike other teams in the division who have players like Joao Silva(ex-Everton) and Nikola Durdic (ex-Augsburg), his side is all domestic and most recruitment came from the youth teams, and after taking them from bottom of their relegation group to winning it last year, he has them fighting for promotion this year. He's a coach that knows how to adapt to the players he has and get the best out of them, all while bringing in the youngsters, which is what Palace need. There's also the fact he's on the FA's radar and was interviewed for the England U21s job before, losing out to Aidy Boothroyd because the FA wanted someone more recognisable in charge. Which is perhaps why he is not on our radar. I believe we have been scarred by FdB. I suspect the club will take a cautious, conservative approach and won't touch any manager who has no proven premier league experience.

As good as Cooper or Ishmael might be, I'd be very concerned about the idea of us waiting for the Championship Play-Offs to conclude before attempting to appoint our new manager. Even if Swansea or Barnsley agree to our approach and the compensation fee very quickly, we would be elongating the period in which we don't have a manager whilst others are already active in the transfer market. Given that we need to be very busy this summer and the euros will make deals harder, we possibly can't afford to have a vacancy in the dugout for that long. Teams that win the playoffs famously have too little time to do transfer deals before the next season, and we would be operating on the same timescale. I appreciate that Cooper or Ishamel would perhaps expect to just turn up and coach whatever squad Freedman and Parish can provide, so we could just get on with making signings as of now, ahead of a manager being appointed, but I'd think potential new players will want to know who the manager is before they sign. For that reason alone we should be looking only at Lampard or Howe, and get one in to start on Monday morning. I think Parish will already have a gentleman’s agreement with whoever is taking over. He knew Roy was leaving a while back and are you telling me that now Roy has left only now are we starting to look for a replacement. If that was the case it would be totally incompetent, would probably see us make another Frank de boer mistake which would then see Big Sam or even Roy taking the reigns again before Christmas and round and round we go in these never ending cycles.

I tend to agree that leaves Dyche in pole.Or he is waiting for Championship playoffs to finish if he is going to take a risk on one of those managers .

I would expect an announcement after Sunday’s game or next Monday. The club have let Roy get all the plaudits after announcing his retirement this week, naming a new manager would of taken some of the attention. Parish would of known for a couple of months Roy’s decision, he isn’t the same as Pulis and FatSam and just leave with no notice, he has a bit more class. Convinced Lampard will be revealed as the new manager, despite click bait merchants saying otherwise.

Considering the job that needs to be done, all the names that are being touted around strike me as, to a man, depressingly uninspiring.

If the new manager can rebuild and keep us up next season it won't do there CV any harm that's for sure.
