There is a bigger issue with the Roy IN brigade. If Mr Parish can not hold Roy accountable to team results, the moral hazard trickles down to the players were Roy can not hold the players accountable to game results. As a businessman SP should be aware of this fact.

Sadly a couple of Burnley’s defenders are now injured for their upcoming match with Fulham. Also we have Fulham to play shortly and I can see them closing the gap as at the moment we have finished on 29 points. I keep saying that Hodgson needs to go back to 3 central midfielders as this will be the only way to give the awful defence some protection. He had a chance after the 3rd went in today to give Kelly some much needed game time before Brighton and pair him with Dann thereby moving Kouyate into a middle 3 midfield. Obviously he won’t do this for the coming matches and we will continue to be outplayed in every position by trying to have a middle midfield 2 which does absolutely nothing, especially with a back four so deep as well as not being able to defend. It’s a shambles and only Parish / American owners replacing Hodgson now will get us up to the number of points to keep us up. I’m assuming that one of the bottom 3 will get 29 plus points to pass us and that may be a tall order but I don’t want to take that chance?

No but its his dire tactics that put an already terrible defence under massive pressure every game by having such a horrible negative setup. Fair enough there are some horrible lazy b******s in that team ut they're probably sick of being forced to play such boring s***e. Originally posted by TheBigToePunt
My concern is that you are conflating a manager with a hypnotist. Attitude comes from the individual, Listen to the likes of Roy Keane and Graeme Souness, they say it every week. Hodgson should be held accountable for the things he controls, but he didn't f*** up the clearance, or fail to contest the header, or not track the runner. These are average players showing, once again, why they are so.

Yes but it doesn’t work playing people out of position. Totally Roy’s fault today, sticking with a 4-4-2 and playing Eze and Ayew out wide, this exposes the middle 2 who are too slow, which makes the defence vulnerable, who are too slow themselves with 2 strikers on who aren’t scoring. Shambles!!! There are defensive midfielders who play by themselves in a 2 central midfielders system, next to a much more offensive players. In the early 2000s Makelele played alone at Real Madrid next to Zidane, while they also had 2 more players up front. Edgar Davids, Deschamps, Dunga, the best defensive midfielders in the last 30 years have also played like that. Maybe if Riedewald and Milivojevic aren't fast enough they should think twice if they should be football players.

Do you actually hold a manager responsible for anything a team does? Yes, I think Roy opts to play anti-football, and as a result once we are two down today we were never, ever coming back. I would go further and say that Roy can't do anything above and beyond playing anti-football - it is the limit of his capabilities. The difference perhaps between us is that I get why anti-football is the best bet for Palace to stay up, and in staying up, to achieve the bigger-picture aims the club has. I don't like this version of 'football', or enjoy it, but I try to avoid blaming the manager for either the small details (like the individual errors today) or the big picture (i.e the clubs place in the economic pecking order). I hold him responsible for the number of points we get against the value of squad we have, and when I do that I can only conclude that his continued employment, however dispiriting, makes sense. The players no longer need to impress Roy - he plays them regardless! We need something different in midfield and yet he plays Kouyate in defence over Kelly/Cahill. We’re crying out for width and crosses into the box and yet he plays a lefty on the right and a righty on the left. He sticks with Two DM when we need to chase the game and create something. No reaction in substitutions until it’s to flipping late. Now is the time for a new man to come in - there will never be a better opportunity to assess the squad and decide what changes need to be made. You never know it may even light a fire under those that are too comfortable!
