Strange they can close the borders now! When they “panic buying by foreigners” do they mean their fellow Europeans?!

Was at Mayday Hospital (Croydon University Hospital - CUH) this morning. They are gearing up for activity. Access for 111 referrals will be from the Woodcroft Road side - the area used for the temporary Accident and Emergency area while that department was rebuilt. Please all take care. Mods - please feel free to create a thread for this - and similar information concerning CUH and (possibly) Selhurst Park.

Italy records 368 new deaths in one day. Worse than the deadliest day in Wuhan.

Looking at the stats, I believe these are massively off kilter. As of today, there are 1350 reported cases in the UK, however these happen to include several premiership footballers. The US as of today reports 3000 cases, and this just happens to include Tom Hanks. I read this that far, far more people have or have had it than they know.

China's measures appear to have been succeeding and they are shutting down hospitals as their new cases are dropping significantly. Once a vaccine is developed for this virus then the reality is that you have cracked the code of that particular aliment and hence strains that develop are no more deadly than new flu strains are normally....ie you can quickly adjust your vaccine......I think that happens with flu generally.....it's about cracking that code to develop the way to attack the virus initially. I can't say I agree with the UK's softy softy approach myself but then again the culture for many in the UK isn't that touchy feely anyway I certainly think we won't see the percentage infection that Italy and Spain have....another big factor is that we have far less inter generational family members living in the same house. Plus we don’t have the high percentage of cool to smoke cigarettes culture through all age groups like Italy and Spain although we have some of the dirtiest people who just cough without covering their mouths. One tw@t the other day in a co-op after bellowing that there was only one on the checkouts while others were stacking shelves (that he picked from) then tells the checkout boy he could do with latex gloves. After coughing his rank gob everywhere. Complete faux cockney w@nker. There are just far too many morons around. I wouldn’t mind losing some but they’ll just be carriers or mild symptom sufferers unfortunately. Edited by Rudi Hedman (15 Mar 2020 9.09pm)

Definitely more people self isolating than they know, with varying levels of symptoms. I’ve heard there could be milder forms of the virus, like Arteta might have had.

I appreciate this is on the very low end with all the madness that is going on however my trip to Singapore and Indonesia will now be cancelled as both governments have just announced they don't want UK tourists. I expect the Travel agent will confirm this tomorrow but it's on the FCO website so is official. Hopefully it means I get my money back so I am afraid you will have to put up with me a bit longer. On the bright side it means I can now co-ordinate the help plan for my block of flats whose residents are mainly over 70. As many are pre war babies they do not take kindly to being told to stay in doors by a namby pamby government so I think I will have to nail their front doors shut. That generation are built of sterner stuff then us youngsters Hitler couldn't bomb them out of their homes and I doubt Boris will be able to keep them in them. Be well people. I hope the building doesn't have cladding,...

Only coughing to get the throat moist but it gets you concerned. I had that a lot lot worse in the autumn every morning. Having the heating on overnight helped it.
