It seems Chelsea decided to play games with him and left it very late before deciding he was surplus to their needs. A real shame because he's EPL quality when right. He may be available in January. It's really a poor way for an English club to treat an England international.

To be honest, it won’t be terrible for his development if he goes to Spain for a season on loan or something.

It’s just vital that he kicks on and plays 30+ matches this season. If he manages that at Chelsea, fair play to him. If he doesn’t then they have both made an error and it smacks of Chelsea’s horrible cash first use of the loan market that treats its young players as a commodity rather than an investment in the clubs future.

i hope he does go out on loan to a big team, then have a blinding season and tell chelsea to FRO come back against them and destroy them.
it is so wrong to treat a player like that

Maybe a continental European club will bid for him before the end of August.

He came on today during the second half.

I actually think the kid they have Hudson-Odoi will be a an outstanding player, maybe a better talent than RLC.

Chelsea have so many of these kids we really shouldn't get fixated on one.

At some point one will leave, thy can't bring them all through.

The more we give our own kids a route to the first team. Like we have Wan-bissaka the more chance Chelsea lads will think about moving here to.

He’s not even on the bench this evening.

That's odd. If they want to give him a chance this season he should be making every squad at the very least. Seems like the whole situation has been mismanaged by Chelsea and RLC (and his agent). It's better to get plenty of game time at his age even if it means playing in an inferior team. He should have pushed for a loan or permanent move if Chelsea couldn't guarantee they would play him lots this season.

I am sure that RLC knew what he was doing. He knew he could come back to us and play most games or stay at Chelsea and struggle to make the bench. His choice but I can't see him starting a game. You could call it aspiration of maybe just vanity.
It's like Drinkwater. What possessed him to think he would make the Chelsea first team? He is now unemployable due to his wages. He can always just count his money while watching others people playing on match of The day.

Chelsea refused him coming back, not him himself. Hodgson and Parrish both stated that. Yes rlc said he’s determined to give it his best shot, but that came out after Chelsea refuse our advances

The fact that a fit RLC is not on a pitch playing football this weekend is a sad day for Chelsea and football in general .

We may have a chance to dig out the old chant, “You should have stayed at Palace” when we run rings around Chelsea in due course.

Except that won’t work if he’s not actually there!!
