I'd rather mention the piss poor job the last Labour government did which is why we now have a Tory government still trying to fix the mess Labour created.

That excuse wears rather thin for any party when you reach halfway through your second term though.

And sadly, the history of British governments is they get worse the longer they're office, not better.

Thatcher went a bit mental at the end, then gave way to Major's disastrous ministry which nonetheless limped on for 7 years.

Blair came in as a breath of fresh air, was struggling by his second term thanks to his foreign adventures, then gave way to the much maligned Brown, who chickened out of holding a GE in a strong position, then lost when he had to hold one.

Suspect the Tories have had their high point with Cameron and are now on the downward slide. Much like Major, wouldn't put it past them clinging on til 2022 though.

To be fair, part of that is down to the fickleness of the British electorate. Things don't immediately get better, they become jaded, and start clamouring for change- regardless of who is in power, or what the alternative is.

British politics sadly defined by short termism, parties doing whatever they can in power to hang on for the 5 years, with little planning for 'the next parliament'.

No, it just indicates the size of the mess in this case.

Short termism is the price we pay for democracy.

Cameron was awful. Those blue rinsers who voted him in instead of Davies are a bleeding pain in the arse.

Gussett is NOT interested at all in Hrolf's view of Theresa May.

All he is doing is trying to act as provocative stimulus to draw people into debate so he can further his risible 'Left-Wing' agenda on HOL.Very obvious indeed.

In the circumstances, I shall refrain from giving credence to his 'Left-Wing' posturing and will NOT be drawn into any debate with someone whose intentions on here are as clear as the 'Aurora Borealis'.

Incidently, has Gussett ever contributed to a football debate on HOL ?

My oh my - I am on the right-wing of the Conservative party but I don't exist on here just to to spew my political agenda and to act as a political gadfly.

Not going to provide any 'Oxygen' to any of Gussett's posts by taking the trouble to responding to them. This is what he desires as part of his leftie agenda. He has been found out - Delighted to disappoint him.

What a shame. I asked you so nicely too.

I love this left wing agenda nonsense, like i'm trying to lull you into a trap.

All I'm doing is putting my opinions. The whole afternoon only 2 or 3 people have actually mentioned theresa may. The rest of the posts have all been aimed at me, which is fine if that's what you want.

Readers on here are well aware of what you think of me and my politics. You and others keep banging on about it.
So instead of focussing on me, why don't you explain what you think of theresa mays current position given all thats happened. What do you think she's done well in, how do things look for her going forward? Is she the right person to lead us through Brexit or is there someone inside the tory ranks who would do a better job in your opinion?

They're not trick questions I assure you.

She is not a very good leader with some confused and inadequate polices. Her only real positive is her relatively strong stance on Brexit.
Corbyn is also not a good leader with a set of bankrupt the country policies and an approach to Brexit that would lumber us with all the disadvantages of the EU that we are trying to escape.
The country lacks competent realistic leaders at the moment.
Now will you answer my straightforward questions?

Respectfully disagree with the first point. Agree with the second though.

Problem is, with 2 (generally) diametrically opposed parties swapping power every few years, they spend the first term trying to roll back, undo, or undermine the previous governments work for ideological reasons.

Means, depressingly, nothing ever really gets done, and nothing really changes.

An imperfect system, but still better than many.

Back on topic- Theresa May has weakened her own hand immensely. She WILL be toppled by her own party- the only question is how long she'll last, and whether her successor will see out the current term or try and force another GE.
