So, if we're not prepared to pay the going rate then we lose out. Move on and find someone we can afford...

I heard a couple hours ago that Bournemouth offered to pay all his wages. No idea if it's true and no idea if that's what swung it. But apparently (and rightly so) Palace wasn't going to pay all his (£140k/week) wages and Bournemouth was. I have heard Arsenal blocked his move to Palace. He wanted to stay in London, he did not want to relocate. Palace were in the driving seat to get him until the 'powers that be' at Arsenal told him no.

Although I would still love to see him at Selhurst. It seems that Palace have been consistent the whole way through the window in that they have had an eye for quality, but a push for squeezing every bit of value out of the window. It does not feel like we have been rolled over by anyone. Even if we get no-one else in then it has been a fantastic window, but spending the £140k a week on wages for two or three players who would give us depth would seem to be more sensible than one player (no matter how good), especially when his fitness record seems to suggest that we would need depth to cover for his regular games out.

Would have loved to see him at SP but right decision in my mind. Fair play to him for wanting to go out on loan

Looks like more fans on here are starting to tune into the astute methods employed by our management in the transfer market.

Meh. We've dodged a big bullet here, so let's move on.

He clearly wants to be a big fish in a small pond rather than try and compete in a team from a larger club like CPFC. He'll have more of a chance at Bournemouth of standing out as their best player when he plays.

Do Ipswich fans feel the same every time they sign Williams, 4 times on loan and he just another injury prone player. Jonny Wheelchair

What amazes me about the whole Wilshire thing is we already have a player that fits exactly the same role as Wilshire. And we've once again let him go out on loan. His name? Johnny Williams.
