We cannot unilaterally introduce standing areas, it will require a new piece of legislation, so it will depend on what the government think about it and if they are motivated to make any changes. With the Hillsborough enquiry so recent, I wouldn't be that optimistic. If the government changed the law and another disaster were to happen, the blame would be laid at their door; from their point of view it's something they may well steer clear of.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

If the seats can be locked in a seated position then we might technically be able to install them. Even if we have to then wait for legislation to use them. Doubt we'd risk it, but possibly an option.

Parish is very excited about the prospect of charging more or less the same for standing as sitting, while packing in about four times as many punters. Being the PR spin wizard he is it will be dressed up as 'something for the true supporter' while ignoring what we really want - lower prices!

What is your f***ing problem with Parish, you miserable tosser. Also if you think it through, the more people the lower the prices can be compared to if there was less people and the more expensive it would have to be. So yes the prick Parish is doing just what you want, if you actually THINK about it. Dickhead

It wouldn't be fair to charge the same price for standing especially as it's a great opportunity to make match day tickets more affordable. It's not for me but if folks want it and so long as it doesn't spoil the view of those who want to sit, then what are we waiting for? Edited by Percy of Peckham (10 Sep 2016 7.02am)

There is nothing wrong with standing at football. It's what the game was built on. Affordable, sociable, atmospheric...things that have been lost over the past 25 years. As tragic as Hillsborough was, we should never have run so far in the opposite direction. The prospect of Selhurst including standing (please stop calling it safe-standing) is a dream and a rite that should be pursued to the nth degree.

Edited by Percy of Peckham (10 Sep 2016 7.02am) What are we waiting for? New legislation for it to be allowed for a start. Another stand to be built after the main stand is another. I cannot see Parish wanting all the standing section in the tier below the corporates paying their high prices. This is a long way off because of both those reasons but it'd be good to have it and you could also sell a lot more away tickets as well.
