29 years old, injury prone, £80k/week, little resale value. Another bullet dodged here, despite proven past quality.

Ok ok THIS window has been quiet for us, what happened to the two more signings that were mentioned by the chairman spoke about? Adebayor? £65 grand a week and already injured, if he is that great why didn't anyone else take a punt?

Watford were also in for Adebayor. None of the top clubs were competing as he has already played for them! 2 of the signings who we chased hard were apparently Slimani and Babacar [spell?]. However, their clubs refused to budge on price which were £20M+. Can you imagine the nerves of getting it wrong for a club our size that is not yet safe? Perhaps if we had not gone on such a bad run and were on 40+ points we may have been a more attractive option for incoming players; and the club may have been more willing to take the massive gamble on spending more than twice our fee record on overseas players who have no experience in the Premier League and who probably won't hit any form [if they do] until next season? Who knows? SP said some time ago that after 3 seasons in this division we may start seeing marquee signings. I suspect the Americans also want to see the type of flashy players who put bums on seats. Cabaye and Adebayor may be just a taste of what's to come? I suspect this summer will see a couple of transfers at eye-watering prices... And yes: Yohan Cabaye and Emmanuel Adebayor both play for Crystal Palace.

For some previous posters, SP said they were talking to 2-3 others NOT we are going to sign 2-3 others.

Great post fully agree. If we get back on track and finish between 8th and 12th like we should, we will see a few good players in the summer as we will have found a consistent level of mid table and look to improve. I belive we will get a good striker in the summer aka slimani batshuayi ect.
