Hi Steve

As much as I rated Houghton at Newcastle, he did inherit a premier league squad with playes like Barton, Nolan and Guitterez.

I don't envy the decision you have to make about a new manager, but hope that Coppell is given due consideration as he would lift everyone at the club

couldn't agree more, Stevie Coppell on board in ANY capacity in the new management set-up would boost everything.

George Courtney, the World Cup referee, everyone is looking at him. When will he blow....?

Hi Steve.

Q. How much emphasis are you placing on a new manager bringing in a coaching & scouting infrastructure with him?

I suspect we're light in both departments. I know Steve Kember has just been appointed recently, but it still feels that we have a "Team Warnock" shaped whole in places. If I'm wrong, I'll be happy to be so...

Scouting and "contact network" I mean when I say scouting.

By "sufficient funds" i meant enough to buy proven championship players so lets say 1-2 million?

Secondly, i think Hughton would be a great appointment but i am not sure how likely that will be. Do you want to have a manager in place by the Cov/Swansea game?

The new manager will be given funds that we know are enough to be competitive in the division

Are we taking millions Steve or a good few hundred thousand?

and will those funds be affected by the compo you've had to pay GB?

Do you think George Burley by taking the Palace job was on a hiding to nothing,in much the same way Alan Smith was the last time we came out of administration? Decimated squad,no coaching staff, embargo,it would take one hell of a manager to turn it all around in six months.

Edited by JayCee (01 Jan 2011 11.07pm)

decimated squad ?? Talk me through that?

"We have had to come in and build up a squad that had 10 or 11 players and no coaching staff. It's a work in progress but I think we are going in the right direction."

Quote from George Burley, sounds quite decimated to me.

Most managers want to change the coaching staff when they come in and get their own people so this would surely have been a benefit , actually George was happy to have dougie. Then we lost two players from the end of the season that were regulars that we couldnt prevent the others leaving were GB's choice .

Not much to ask your new manager is it ? to replace two players ?

I'm not sure that's fair. Warnock couldn't put out a full subs bench at the end of last year and relied on Derry playing every match. Losing Moses and Fonte was already a big blow, Derry was more than just a player to lose - he was captain and midfield rock, add to that John and Ertl, Lawrence now being 36, Scannell ruled out through injury, and Ambrose out injured for most of the games.

You can say other clubs have a smaller wage bill, but the players in those clubs have had a lot longer to gel and find their shape. I think it is a fair argument that Burley was working with an incomplete squad, and a totally uncompetitive midfield, Having said that, Burley did have time to replace Derry and he failed to do it.

'totally uncompetitive midfield' ??????

Who's midfield is it then?

If you're saying the manager has to take responsibility for the players he brings in, I totally agree. Like I said, it was up to Burley to replace Derry and he didn't. My perception is that with the exception of Marrow, who's been brilliant but is still learning, we don't have any out-and-out ballwinners in midfield and that goes a long way to explain our league position.

You have to admit though: It was about more than replacing two players. I forgot about carle even.

A palace legend but two issues:

1) It's not permanent fix and we'll be back to square looking for a manager in no time

2) Why do we have to keep stepping back in time? I thought CPFC2010 had a vision of taking us forward in time...not back?

Lets get a new manager who had drive to succeed as such and not just looking for another pay packet

Steve I have listened to some of the podcasts of you, and you mention you come on the HOL and BBS every day. As a fan do you have ideas yourself on which players you would like to sign, or is that left completely to the manager?

My question is - have you ever had any input of choosing a player?

Hi Steve, a tough day all round but necessary actions taken.

if possible, I would like to know whether the directors were split over this decision and when the doubts over George's future started to surface?

Also, to second the question over the intended appointment future of the new manager (until the end of the season or long-term)

was it just the matchday you were not satisfied with or did it run to training aswell?

All directors are as one.
