This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle I just cant see him going to Everton if he want European football. I think it's far more likely that he'll go to Chelsea when the embargo is lifted. A cash plus swap deal would probably be best. Then we will have to give less to Man U

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle I can totally understand him wanting to go to Everton, if I'm being honest here. Yes, they aren't top 6 but they are considerably better than we are. Let's not delude ourselves this is a sideways step, Everton will definitely be challenging the top 6 this year. This means, for the first time in Wilf's career, he will not be battling relegation and will be playing in a team with a different target. Some of the players Everton have recruited are world class. I love Wilf and am so happy for everything he has done. But with the ambition Everton are showing, I can understand why he would want to be part of it. Also, from a career perspective in any field, it's understandable he wants to work for someone else. Whatever happens happens (Don't get me wrong I desperately would love him to stay and play for Palace until the end of his career) but let's put a realistic lense on this rather than just calling him out for lying about wanting European Football only.

Looks like it might be Tosun an McCarthy coming to Palace but there might just be enough time to bring in a really good wideplayer to replace Will? I refuse to click on a link to HITC along with many other clickbait websites (Talksport, TEAMTalk Sports Mole, Inside Futbol are all worthless in terms of reliable information). Internet journalism at it's very worst

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle We have to balance the books so if selling Wilf helps with that so be it. The long term future of the club - regardless of what division we play in - is the priority now. To stand any chance of outside investors coming in we have to have the books sorted - simple. We're already at a disadvantage with the state of the ground / facilities so we can't run the risk of getting relegated and be millions in debt. It's just not worth it ... I'll be gutted to see Wilf go but if he does then so be it. I trust SP is doing the right thing for the stability of the club after gambling big in recent seasons to keep us in the mix. It just can't go on like this ... it's madness. Cash in, consolidate, take your chances and if we go down, then go again ...

Everton are parodying Man City at the moment, they will win nothing. They will have to spend big for a few years before getting anywhere near the top 6 and will achieve nothing before Zaha is 30, and probably run his course. He does not have the footballing ability to last beyond his pace - I will challenge anyone to argue that. If Zaha is considering this move it will mean there is no footballing logic behind it - just greed. Wilf is just another kid from Croydon who supported Arsenal and therefore not a genuine football fan like the majority at Palace, loyalty means very little to people like that. He should remember we nurtured him and gave him his chance, let him go to a big club once before and then revived his career when he flopped big time. The parameters for his sale should have been set early - he can go to a club playing European football, who meet the asking price and not in the last week or two of the window, nothing else. If he goes to Everton I will be actively supporting his failure and he will s**t all over any potential legacy he would have at Palace as far as I’m concerned. v. harsh on both Zaha & Everton. If one aspires to be great, then you've got to start the process. For Everton / Zaha above read Man City & Tevez years ago.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle How they are working out Tosun and McCarthy being 35 million is beyond me. Tosun scored 3 in 25 last year, and McCarthy has played less than 20 league games in the last 3 years. If we sell Wilf at this stage and bring in these two - players in positions we don't need strengthening IMO - I'll cry.
If punk ever happened I'd be preaching the law, instead of listenin to Lydon lecture BBC4 |

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle Morning gents, Toffee in peace here. As it looks increasingly likely that Zaha will be coming to Merseyside on a cash plus player deal, who from our current squad (who are up for grabs) do you think will benefit your team? This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle Everton haven’t been outside the top flight in my lifetime and look to have ambitious owners with money. We, on the other hand, have flirted with relegation every season we’ve been back in the Premier League and a messy ownership some of whom want out. Not popular but a no brainer for the player IMO. There’s also the probability of more regular starts than if he joined the likes of United who are in decline IMO anyway. As far as the deal goes for us. Notwithstanding the lack of time available to find an adequate replacement I don’t want the players they’re offering to top up the deal I think they’re average at best. McCarthy is another midfield player who doesn’t score goals and Tosun has struggled after a decent start.

Sell our best player and one who has been the major factor in keeping us in the PL and bring in 2 cast-offs from Everton who have hardly set the world on fire and they cannot wait to get rid of seems totally and utterly ridiculous. One can point to the transfer fee but 25% goes to Man Utd and there is hardly any time to bring in any replacement. I will seriously consider throwing my season ticket into the English Channel if this scenario unfolds and I have been a supporter through all the trials and tribulations since the 60s.The club will be made aware of my feeling in no uncertain terms. I am realistic enough to accept that Zaha would be sold to a bigger club at some juncture but not late in the window in exchange for 2 cast-offs.Nothing definite as yet but the thought of it fills me with dread and hyperventilation.Enough is enough Steve.
