Maybe waiting for Pellegrino or De Boer to fly in from Argentina and Holland respectively before making announcement. Perhaps we are going to get both managers as SO can't decide on either would work well in the dug out and training every day

De Boer and Pellegrino interviewed and both impress. Dyche not yet interviewed as he has been on holiday. Will be approached this week and depending on how he performs expect a decision by end of the week. Three good options. De Boer my least favourite. Had great set up at Ajax in poor league in Holland so of course he would look good. Then blew it at Inter Milan where he had good squad but could not handle pressure of desire and demand from club and fans alike. Probably de Boer is a better coach than manager. Pellegrino did wonders with Alves in La Liga where it is dominated by 2-3 clubs. Would be a possible gamble but so was Pochettino and look how he did at Southampton and Spurs. Dyche has done wonders at Burnley and was doing well at Watford and removed due to foreign owners. Has knowledge of the premier league but can he take his work to the next level that we would want at Palace. I would prefer Pellegrino. Knows Sammy Lee and prefers a pressing and counter attacking game which suits our squad. Also has wide range of premier and euro football knowledge. SO what are your thoughts out there? unlucky mate - I tried the same thing and got similar unwarranted childish abuse - the other main thread has deteriorated into the usual who's the biggest a*sehole competition - I happen to agree 100% with your take on things - there's just been what looks genuinely significant shifts in the betting to suggest a decision is close - and Clapham Grand is getting excited apparently - fingers crossed for Pellegrino, he's still odds against favourite with the bookies for the Saints job but the exchanges have him long odds on - he's shortened with us as well though so has Dyche. A Saints fan reminded me they usually pluck someone out who's not among the usual suspects, so hopefully we'll get Mauricio and Southampton will look elsewhere, though The Times reckons he prefers us over the Saints anyway.

I find it almost impossible to believe that, if the latest rumours are true, after over four weeks of deliberation, we're now going to throw Dyche, who we haven't apparently spoken to, into the mix, effectively delaying the appointment even longer, so we can assess whether we'd like a bit more of the same old. If any of this has a basis in fact then we're making a laughing stock of ourselves. If I was Pellegrino or de Boer, and had been told we still couldn't make a decision because we needed to talk to Dyche, I'd tell us, Sherwood-style, exactly where we could sick our job.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

Totally agree. Is a holiday an excuse for an appointment. If the preferred candidate wants the job. They would cut there holiday short.

But like most on here, I probably lack perspective. Operating style aside -- and we can only guess what that is -- the only true measures are results and outcomes. And on that score, it would seem his operating style has delivered extraordinarily.

It looks to me as if there is some activity from Dyche's agent to try again to get us interested. Amusing article which says that Pellegrino is going to Southampton "because it says so in the Sun". Well it must be true then.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'New Manager Thoughts' by kenbarr Being in Spain, I have a soft spot for Pellegrino and Alves. I watched them a few time against Celta, including our semi final defeat. Alves worked great as a unit with no real striker, in my opinion they have no stars, which is why they probably done so well, everyone worked for each other, every goal was a team goal, every mistake was a team mistake, no one really upset the apple cart so I think he will bring out our strengths but I am unsure how he will deal with our wanna be mega stars! He seems to be a team as a unit player, dont think just work hard and stick to our plan, not sure about our wingers!
