This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle I don't really understand why people think Everton are a sideways step. This is a club that is financially backed well now, they have really invested in some quality players the last two years and are a team on the up. I think out of the normal top 6, them and Leicester are the ones that could break through and adding someone like Wilf could be that missing link for them to break in. A front 3 of Richarlison, Kean and Zaha with DCL, Tosun and Walcott as back up is easily the best outside the top 6 and they have Sigi, Gomes, Delph, Davies etc. in midfield. That's a real solid team they are putting together there. If I was Wilf, I wouldn't turn my nose up at Everton at all. Think they could really surprise some people this year.

I’ve been told that Everton are willing to pay £220k per week which is what Wilf is after. My source is very close to Wilf but has fed me duff info in the past so don’t know how likely any of this is. So Wilf is just a greedy b****** then and it isn't about furthering his footballing career at all. I always thought that we should have sold him to Arsenal at half of out valuation on condition that he accepted wages of half what we paid him

If Everton want to throw in Walcott instead of Tosun.. Looks like it might be Tosun an McCarthy coming to Palace but there might just be enough time to bring in a really good wideplayer to replace Will?

Everton are parodying Man City at the moment, they will win nothing. They will have to spend big for a few years before getting anywhere near the top 6 and will achieve nothing before Zaha is 30, and probably run his course. He does not have the footballing ability to last beyond his pace - I will challenge anyone to argue that. If Zaha is considering this move it will mean there is no footballing logic behind it - just greed. Wilf is just another kid from Croydon who supported Arsenal and therefore not a genuine football fan like the majority at Palace, loyalty means very little to people like that. He should remember we nurtured him and gave him his chance, let him go to a big club once before and then revived his career when he flopped big time. The parameters for his sale should have been set early - he can go to a club playing European football, who meet the asking price and not in the last week or two of the window, nothing else. If he goes to Everton I will be actively supporting his failure and he will s**t all over any potential legacy he would have at Palace as far as I’m concerned.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Yes, I agree, if they get Wilf I think they will challenge for the 3rd to 6th places. going back a couple of years we seem to be similar to Everton, Leicester and West Ham, Now Wolves have joined the list. we seem to be in a downward spiral, Very disappointing.

I think the team that Everton have put together has enough to challenge for top 6. Arsenal have not addressed their defence, Chelsea have not been able to buy anyone, lost their best player and have an inexperienced manager, Man U are a bit of a shambles at the moment. Even Tottenham could implode this season if Poch was to leave and he doesn't seem too happy at the moment. Everton's team next year could line up as .............Pickford Coleman....Keane...Mina....Digne ............Gomes.....Delph/Gbamin ................Sigi ....Richarlison...Kean...Zaha
If they get Wilf and a centre back, that is a team I would really not want to face....now who have we got first game of the season?

He, and his hangers-on may not have handled this situation too well, but it's not like he hasn't been an important part of our current sojourn in the PL.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle He may follow the great tradition of Everton paying us a fortunate for a player who then does his knee in. Best to ensure he is insured.
