It won't. Disengagement with them and wagging fingers will harden attitudes towards us and ultimately strengthen Iran. We need to work towards moderation within both sides. For some reason, Kermit thinks he has a better handle on diplomacy and foreign policy that those who do it for a living.

Two immediate ideas to counter the spread of islamist jihadism: 1. Review the activities of the World Muslim League...its the world wide body Saudis have used to spread Salafism globally. UK HQ is in Tottenham Court Road. 2. Downgrade ties with Saudi Arabia, including selling arms. That would be attacking a key causal factor rather than posturing. Who would be more likely to actually implement them? Not TM and the Tories. So,when people stop frothing and knee jerking, Corbyn has said some v sensible things. Internment would be about as successful as it was in N Ireland...ie not very. The thing is to isolate the jihadists within the wider muslim community (in which they are a small minority) and cut off the funding of the spread of salafist ideology on a mass scale at source.

There are no allies or enemies when it comes to selling weapons or business in general. You used the word enemies... I was just wondering who you meant... Just because someone else might do it, that's not a reason to carry on doing something, especially if you're supporting regimes like Saudi Arabia.

Need to be able to lead your Party before you can lead the country. If he doesn't win and then doesn't resign. I can see a Labour split, which would only work in the Tories' hands.

He does lead his party though! He's won two leadership elections, nearly tripled membership numbers, and most PLP are totally on board with the manifesto. So there's a few blairites moaning, but who in this country wants blairites back now? Surely if there was desire for it, the lib dems would be smashing it? A breakaway party would crash and burn... And i suppose you think the same of May? She has completely alienated the tory base, her own chancellor won't talk to her, and she's led the most disastorous ge campaign in history. If she wins, it will be f*cking chaos from day 1.

The word enemy seems old fashioned somehow in the new world order I admit. The relationship we have with Russia and China has many levels. No one trusts anyone and each party is working against the other while maintaining relations and even trade. We even share a space station with the Russians and heaven knows what else that we don't know about but that is not the whole picture. Militarily and covertly, there is still a big game of brinkmanship continuing, often involving proxy wars. I have already told you why we sell arms. Allowing others to do it instead has no advantage.

If she wins, it will be f*cking chaos from day 1. You need the support of your fellow MPs to do well in office. He hasn't got that. He might have the backing of the members, but he can't form a reasonable shadow cabinet. Tories have had a nightmare of a campaign, they have gone from destroying Corbyn, to just about winning. There is no shame in a Conservative voter in admitting that. The only reason why it'll be chaos is those that cannot accept a democratic result, very much like the day Brexit was announced. I fully expect to be voting Labour in the next election (Providing a more centrist candidate, and Labour haven't split), but I will never vote for someone like Corbyn that also has Abbott as a Shadow Home Secretary. Someone that should know what a Labour Lord recommended in his report regarding Terrorism in London. Edited by Hansy (06 Jun 2017 3.08pm)
