Two days in a row licence inspector (postmen on overtime in Ireland). I didn't answer but did answer accidentally a while back and pretended to be Ukrainian. Me knew nothing, no good English, just visiting lovely place.

I reluctantly pay my licence.

However I do wonder why people who don't plead guilty in court.

Could you not argue to the magistrate that the BBC should prove you are using live TV? If they can't produce evidence.....

It is madness that we have to pay this fee.
There should be a choice like Netflix.
If i was asked to pay £15/month i can decide what to do.
So many non-jobs on the BBC gravy train and where programmes can be produced for tiny audiences because the decision makers want to on our pay is ridiculous.
It would not survive in the real world and unless the Tories deal with it then you know that Labour won't because they are the left wing liberal mouthpiece.
They report what they want on the news and not what the news really is.
If it doesn't suit their ideals then they say as little as possible.
If you click on the Scotland tab you can start to find out about Wee Krankie's wild spending while in power but not anywhere else.
If Boris or any Tory had spent £14m on the company credit card you can rest assured that it would be front and centre of the homepage not for Nicola Sturgeon - she must be treated.
Oh - and where has Huw Edwards gone - hmm - BBC employee - we know the answer.
I do accept by the way that he may have some serious mental health issues but he wouldn't get a free pass if he didn't work for them, that's for sure!

I have just finished watching the Ascent of Man on Iplayer.

Dr Bronowski was a "big brain" in the post war years.

Below is an interview he had with Michael Parkinson absolutely fascinating.

Parky is at his best he asks a question and then shuts up and let's his guest talk something today's presenters don't do.

Oh Badger you can't really compare.

This is an interview with a bloke who is not only highly intelligent but can clearly and entertainingly communicate his erudite thoughts more or less how he likes.

Now, before I go to today's guests, I will say this. I am still in work and sometimes post on LinkedIn. I have been warned: no s-e-x, religion, politics, or race.

Thus, with the usual Twitter melt downs when someone says something even the tiniest off woke (or on woke), imagine the guidelines imposed on today's guests. Celebs are trained to answer in ways that offend no-one. Consequence: a seriously dull interview. Witty interviewers have to fill the gap. People didn't watch Jonathan Ross for the guests, they watched him take the mick out of his guests.

Free pass? The poor fellow was hounded to death for weeks until the story became today's fish n chip wrapper

Well if that is the case then why bother with chat shows. I must admit I haven't watched any of them since Parky retired.

You maybe correct about media training of celebs but the rise of the "celebrity interviewer" had already started back in Parkinson's days.

If I lived in Derry I could refuse to pay for the TV license on the grounds that the BBC insist on calling it LONDONDERRY.

TBF, that is the correct term as far as the UK is concerned.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

BBC website this morning has "Trump warned by judge" right up there in your face.
If you want to find out about Hunter Biden and the ever deepening mire that threatens to engulf the sitting US president you have to go into the rest of the world pages.
Absolute bias.
