This sounds like a sensible conclusion. There has been a lot of progress made and a lot of things that the UK has done very well with. What's also important is that in trying to drag other sections of society up, is that others aren't pulled down or left behind, which this report also suggests.

Just purely my experience, but my generation and younger have grown up largely in a multicultural society and our friendship groups are diverse so naturally so some of the imbalances seen naturally even themselves out. I think it's fair to say - even using this site as a microcosm - that the younger generations are more socially conscious and aware then the older generations.

Will be interesting to read the report. The headlines being reported this morning do have the slight feel of 'report commission by Number 10 finds exactly what Number 10 wanted it to find' about it but will be interesting to read the research and its findings.

It is certainly true that you accept what you are born into as normal.

Personally, as someone who grew up in South London, I find modern Britain quite depressing. We now have a media that peddles it's distorted politics 24/7, a country with racial and religious schisms everywhere and crime off the scale.

But we do have Wifi and big tellys, so it's OK.

The lack of self-awareness in this post is hilarious.

Modern life is crap.

In terms of social contentment the present is a significant downgrade for most over decades and this is the responsibility of politicians and more accurately the vision of their elite paymasters.

They are told to enjoy their 'sh1te sandwich' or they are some 'ism' or other.

I don't want to depress anyone but I think the future being planned is even worse for most people.....but the technology and hence convenience will improve so most normies will just carry on....because to be fair, what choice do they have.

The chance to change direction was wasted decades ago....the British are far too trusting of their elites.
