I believe that having a healthy mix of people helps provides a balance of viewpoints, approaches, personalities, cultures and experiences which helps better support our clients. We have a diverse client base and having a diverse team helps us ensure what we offer our clients is the best fit. I do not think a team of people who all think the same achieve much. To put it in footballing terms, you're never going to win the league with a team of right wingers. Diversity in Accountancy teams ? so, if you will be doing the 'Tax returns' for a kebab shop in Oldham, will your panel of workers include some pakistani paedo-rapists ? Can you imagine a football team if selection involved a 'racial mix' as a consideration. Apart from the actual racism that this involves you aren't going to get the best team possible anyway. The best talent doesn't fit into racial quotas and political ideologies it just is. Edited by Stirlingsays (31 Mar 2021 11.16am)

OFFICIAL. My conclusion is that it must be all in the deluded minds of those who wish to play the victim and the race card for their own benefit. Some of them are perhaps still clinging on to the trauma of being called a daft name in the playground in 1978.

You want a balance of positions and skill sets to come together as greater than the sum of the parts. Perhaps in the management team you would want it to be a consideration to help with managing a mixture of personalities from different backgrounds. You're really coming at this from the completely wrong angle.

Some of them are perhaps still clinging on to the trauma of being called a daft name in the playground in 1978. 'The commission's report, which is due to be published later, concluded that the UK is not yet a "post-racial country" - but its success in removing race-based disparity in education and, to a lesser extent, the economy, "should be regarded as a model for other white-majority countries".' This sounds like a sensible conclusion. There has been a lot of progress made and a lot of things that the UK has done very well with. What's also important is that in trying to drag other sections of society up, is that others aren't pulled down or left behind, which this report also suggests. Just purely my experience, but my generation and younger have grown up largely in a multicultural society and our friendship groups are diverse so naturally so some of the imbalances seen naturally even themselves out. I think it's fair to say - even using this site as a microcosm - that the younger generations are more socially conscious and aware then the older generations. Will be interesting to read the report. The headlines being reported this morning do have the slight feel of 'report commission by Number 10 finds exactly what Number 10 wanted it to find' about it but will be interesting to read the research and its findings.

So I thought I'd display some of the obvious holes therein. Edited by Stirlingsays (31 Mar 2021 11.29am)

Correct. However, this isn't just true for this report nor for just governmental reports. Anything involving subjective judgement is pretty much worthless on an analytical level and the whole racial field is mostly subjective and wrapped up in ideology whether that's yours or mine or anyone else's.
