At the start of the row of shops coming down from Horniman's was a grocer that had a coffee roaster going outside on the pavement, what a fantastic smell. This would have been mid 60's. The swimming baths on Dartmouth Rd, good times. As for your original point, I have doubts that some on here are all they claim to be...... COYP and God Bless SE23 and all who sail in her Some happy memories there HK. Also the army surplus type shop by the station, the record shop (Reeds?) and the bakers roughly opposite the swimming baths who sold day old buns & doughnuts for a penny - just the job before a swim.

Truss was actually correct in identifying growth as the core of the UKs economic malaise, but her cure an absolute disaster. Unless something dramatic comes in the budget, such as a realisation of the damage caused by brexit, a plan to increase the UKs potential growth output, then the 'tough road' looks to be a cul-de-sac. I suspect it will be all pain for no gain.

Personally, I think the 'going for growth' thing just isn't that realistic. The Tories are completely in hook to the markets and they won't brook it. Any party realistic about growth has to start immediately after winning an election because they would need a long lead in before they even reduced the deficit, let alone touched debt....which isn't going to happen. It'll be tax rises, cuts and borrowing. The majority of the public have no real idea about just how bad it is.....the media, 'left', centre or 'right' have really failed the public....Mentioning the politicians almost goes without saying. The compliant and fickle nature of the public deserves criticism as well. Look at them with Hancock, now.....if someone speaks well and sticks on the empathy all the housewives, valley girls and soy boys all go 'rrrh, he's nice'. Edited by Stirlingsays (15 Nov 2022 4.42pm)

I have to say that the Labour leaders support of Johnson's disastrous brexit deal was the worst decision imaginable and fundamentally ignored the opposition's duty to oppose the government. To think that the opposition was even whipped to support it defies belief. Now he is reduced to 'making brexit work' noises when he knows the whole thing is not working, and when he should have been holding this whole mess to account. And what can he say, when he supported it?

Rumours are he is in favour of building a fence between UK and France, so he can sit on it
