Guehi seems to be an extremely nice guy who is sensible, mature and professional. These were Jude Bellingham's quotes on him during the Euros: "He's the most humble geezer, he thought I'd let him get away with a little handshake but he's just set up the most important goal of my life. I'm really big on giving people their flowers, especially when they've been as good as he has so far in this tournament. He's only a little bit older than me, but when you speak to him or are around him, you get the idea that he's like 40 and played three careers! He's such a nice guy, you forget about his physical presence and playing against him. Whenever I see him going for headers, I think it's nice-guy Marc and then boom, it's not-so-nice Marc! He's a brilliant guy, uncle Marc!” That doesn't strike me as the sort of player who would panic, throw a strop or lower his standards if he doesn't get a move. He'll understand that we have a fee that needs to be met and if it is met then it's up to him to decide, if not I'm sure he'll remain and be just as professional. In terms of his importance to the team, I think ability wise he is our best defender by a while. Yet, funnily enough, I think the specific attributes that Andersen has are actually more fundamental to the way we play. I really hope that Guehi stays but if he does leave it won't change my opinion of him at all, whereas the manner in which Zaha left, for example, did leave a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth. The best thing we can do is try to get Lacroix signed so that even if Guehi leaves right at the last minute, we're covered. Why? He wanted out; we wanted him out. He left on good terms with no residual issues. It would have been better to sell him earlier for a huge price. But when that price was put out, no-one was prepared to pay it; and we actually needed him. And on Lacroix, that is one expensive insurance premium! No deals are concluded that quickly. The negotiations would have to proceed in parallel with all 3 clubs understanding that both transfers are co-dependent with all the accompanying risks.

Latest offer Toon's latest offer totalled £60m and is understood to be £55m up front plus £5m in add-ons. Palace value Guehi at £65m So its getting close

When your children are teenagers, it’s important to have a dog so that someone in the house is happy to see you |

He tried to force his way out several times in the years prior to his departure, culminating in the ludicrous situation where he missed the opening game of a season after handing in a transfer request because we wouldn't let him go to Everton of all clubs. There was another time when his brother went to the press and told Palace to let him go to Arsenal, who were only offering £40m for him and then went on to pay £70m for Pepe. He'll always be one of our greatest ever players but I just think that it could all have been handled a lot better given the level of support the fans have always given him.

If we can't agree a figure with Newcastle, then barring a last minute swoop from say Liverpool, Guehi will stay.

Why should they, its only Guehi & Andersen of interest. What has Richards got to do with this thread? Absolutely nothing. Which is my point. Maybe you need to read properly before responding. He said Richards is better than Guehi and attempted to prove it by saying only Newcastle have made a bid for him. I simply pointed out if Richards is indeed better why then has nobody shown an interest in him. Or are we not allowed mention anyone at all while discussing Guehi?

Guehi could have killed the speculation stone dead in his interview by stating unequivocally, ‘I’m staying.’ He chose not to do so. He said he’s happy at Palace and that it’s a good place to be and he’s concentrating on the game at the weekend. In my view he will be gone by the close of this transfer window.
Its a short career. He understandably want to go as far as he can and win things. I cant blame him for that. What I do admire is he is not aggitating for a move and is behaving like a true pro. letting the businessmen deal with it while he focuses on winning for Palace until told otherwise

I did read you post properly, that's why i responded as i did & don't be so condescending, it doesn't become you. You can mention as many people to your hearts content, BUT, this thread is about Guehi, no-one else.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Hmmm, Someone above mentioned Zaha leaving which has far less to do with Guehi than Richards does (who in case you didn't realise IS relevant because he has been covering Guehi's position while he was injured).
