I am not the least concerned about whether I lost, and as many of my friends disagree with me as agree, being the age group they are, I don't concern myself about them either.

My concern is that the country lost, in so many ways. Claiming it was a "democratic" vote is the consistent mistake of most Brexiteers. It wasn't because referendums are not part of our system. The only thing that gave it legitimacy was when Parliament voted to accept it. Which, in my opinion, they ought never to have done, but is nevertheless their right.

As to making it work? Of course I am. That's my duty but so is trying to reverse it, just as soon as the folly because so well recognised that the tide of opinion becomes irresistible.

How many times!!!
If the EU come up with a plan that is bespoke to the UK which enables us to operate to the benefit of the UK people then why not rejoin. Reversing it for the sake of reversing it comes across like a spiteful want.

At least you and I are more on the same page than many others here who wouldn't rejoin in any circumstances.

Our major difference is that I wanted to negotiate change from within, where we had some influence and leverage. Change that must happen or the EU will implode.

You wouldn't believe anyone, or anything, that wasn't exactly aligned with your world view. A world view that most reject as being distorted beyond reality.

You mean like all those people who voted for Brexit?

I think you will find that my world view is realistic and yours is the stuff of idealistic left wing dreamers.

Yes, look how well that has gone since we joined.
It is laughable when Remoaners fall back on the same old flawed arguments.
Despite a massive, expensive government campaign and big support from the opposition, people still didn't buy it.

I don't recall you actually asking the question about rejoining. You are assuming that what I posted is unique to my views. A bespoke deal would be as good as leaving. Unfortunately the EU didn't want to play ball when we were in so why would the UK continue trying.
Ask the question wissie with my scenario.

Any sensible person realises that there were loads of good reasons to leave the EU, but we’ve made things way worse in the short term and potentially long term. And with Covid it was the worst possible timing.

Balderdash, the UK did better on Covid than most of the EU

Telling that you say potentially worse long term.
That could have been the case if we remained no?
I really think some people want it to go south just so they can say 'told you so'. Not very nice especially as it is the charitable 'socially aware' lefties showing this.
The right wing racist bigots seem to want it to work for everyone in the UK.
who really is the enemy of the people?

Correct and continues to as the news clearly shows this to be the case.
NZ and Australia are permanently flapping along with many other countries.
At least boris did what he said he would do. The UK is getting stronger every day due to decisions and road maps followed during covid, alongside all the financial help offered to the needy. Sometimes if you look carefully you can see the wood for the trees.

Self righteous bollox as usual, no surprise here

At the end of the day though you've made two insulting and inappropriate posts in a row (cheered on by the clapping seals) and are still sitting pretty. If Becky can slip into my inbox due to a joke perhaps she should do the same here? Give us a treat with a bit of even handedness..

And at the same time, for all the annoyance some perceive with Wiz, what we can say is that he doesn't rely on or need a gang or group. He has his stance and he sticks with it. 'Old man' or not, he at least is a man.
