He needs patience. He has looked really good against teams in pre-season. He won’t have that much time in the league but he can make the spot his own. As good as he has been for us he also has a bad habit of giving the ball away cheaply with short passes. If he does that against Southampton it will be a goal for them. But he gives us something else in the middle and has good vision. I hope he isn’t dropped for Luka, it wouldn’t be fair on him.

With Luka not being fully fit you’d like to think Jairo will start on Saturday. If he does he needs to really make the most of it and give Roy a very difficult decision to make.

When you think of all that time he was neglected, tried to dump him off on Swansea but he refused. Hoping he really establishes himself this season.

Me too hope! A midfield of Luka, McCarthy and MacArthur does not frighten the opposition.

Given Jairo’s excellent recent performances I thought I would bump his thread. Some interesting comments early on as to his ability to play in midfield or even his ability to remain a player at the club at all. I think we all agree he is now maturing into a decent player.

It was evident to anyone who watched the preseason games that something had clicked in him. He suddenly looked composed, mature and ready to hold the midfield. I don't know what has happened in the last 12 months but he has developed hugely and it is great to see that Roy is acknowledging that. If he can stay injury free I think he will be pushing for POTY.

Judging by Roy’s recent comments Jairo was bought as a Centre half and it has taken this time to get him ready to be a midfielder. Let’s hope he isn’t injured because he was holding his hamstring which was the injury that kept him out of start of season.

He was brought in by FDB to primarily play in a back three or perhaps in midfield.
