With respect, you are talking nonsense! The clue us in the word “cup”. Teams get knocked out. That’s how it works. Otherwise “they” might as well just get Germany to play off against Argentina or Brazil every four years and save us all a load of time.

Yep and the WC is suffering in the same way as other cups such as the FA cup in England, most players are only focused on their league football as that's where they get their money from.

A to the reference by others stating my comment is 'nonsense', you clearly can't accept a different opinion, which is what I kind of expected on here. The WC has gone the same way as all other cup competitions except for Champions league and that's because that particular tournament is linked to local league position and back to the money addiction. Still, that's probably a bit too complicated for many on here to understand but continue to enjoy what's left of this watered down tournament. Fake World Cup anyone? )

Coming from someone who has extensive previous for being condescending towards anyone who expresses a point of view at odds with your own.

I'm no England fan but it isn't their fault they got the easy side of the draw. They have beaten what has been put before them (apart from Belgium) and that is what a cup is all about.

I think, in the past, there were round robin 'leagues' up to the Final (and in 1950 replaced the Final). Perhaps that would be a fairer way although I'm not sure about the timetable. 1st Round leagues, Last 16 leagues and then knockouts to the final.

Anyone having a pop at England because of the luck of the draw, should think back to palace’s FA Cup run of 1990(if you’re old enough of course) we didn’t play another top flight team till the semi-final, Pompey who were 2nd division was our toughest game on paper, the rest, Huddersfield, Rochdale and Cambridge were all lower league,,,,,,were we bothered?? Were we bollocks!!!

How does Sterling not pass it to Kane instead of trying to force it in. Kane had a perfect sitter and he's the best finisher in the game right now, certainly better than Sterling. Gareth needs to sort the lad out at halftime.

Sadly Kane not as quick as Sterling. No one is. Only he gets into the positions where he can pick up the hoof over the defensive line. Sort his finishing and you have a superstar. Right now, he runs so fast he cant control his own legs.

The World Cup has been fantastic without Italy and the Dutch, although the Dutch fans have been missed. Germany going out was great too.

Agreed. Superb spectacle. Very few dull games. The final will be, as tradition dictates, tedious... unless we are in it..?

We have slipped up against so called lesser teams over the years. This time we have not. We have beaten the teams we should beat; and our second string has lost against another second string team in a game we only needed to avoid injuries, fatigue, cards and a moral sapping battering.

Next game = proper test.

Game after = even tougher.

Judge us then.
