There was a flight in the USA recently, where you can take a pet on board if they are an "emotional support animal". A woman gets on the plane with her dog and another woman, who is already on the plane, tells the stewards that she is allergic to dogs. Who do you think got kicked off? To be honest, I'm surprised that airlines even bother with peanuts anymore. Edited by Ray in Houston (11 Dec 2017 2.52pm)

US Rep. Trent Franks (Republican) announced his resignation yesterday, preemptively in advance of something that is going to come out soon. It's a bit murky this one. Meanwhile, the Washington Post and CNN have been working on an in-depth expose of sexual harassment in Washington. Their report is expected to drop fairly soon, and will "out" 20-30 elected officials.
... Meanwhile, Al Franken gave a farewell speech to the Senate where he addressed the elephant in the room: the fact that he is leaving because of accusations that he doesn't necessarily accept, while Republicans are supporting a credibly-accused child molester for a Senate seat and defending a 19-time accused and self-admitted harasser-in-Chief. Calls for the President to resign over this - while falling on entirely deaf ears, of course - are growing wider and louder.

Where every flight starts with an auction to get some people off, as they've overbooked the flight. Not quite that bad, well Pikeyair (Ryanair) might be but I refuse to fly with them. That was a 1 and done experience.

I don't know if this is something that's explained over there about how Congress works, but whichever party has the majority in either the chamber controls absolutely everything about that chamber's activities. They have the chairmanship and majority vote in every committee; they control what is brought to the floor and how; and, pertinently here, they control what the committees choose to investigate*. Right now Republicans have the majority in both chambers, so they can chose to do, or not do, whatever they want. Therefore, it's going to be an interesting dynamic if Congress goes ahead an investigates Franken (and Moore, after he gets elected tomorrow) but not Trump.
