Progressive thinking with its victim culture and racial politics has convinced them of a half truth. It's easy to blame the problems of a community onto the 'other'. As your side is constantly saying about the right....but never apparently seeing the irony of yourselves.....It's the old story of, 'it's ok when we do it'. If these NFL players were truly interested in reducing black deaths and improving their communities they wouldn't be blaming Police....Well, let me clarify...they wouldn't be highlighting Police as their main problem. They would be highlighting and tackling the cultural disasters within their communities like absent fathers, ghetto culture, anti educational attitudes. We do have black people in the community doing this and it's also definitely true that some NFL players do invest back...which is good and should get more attention...especially from the president. But if they were all putting as much effort and publicity into this rather than virtue signalling against the Police....something might just get done over time. Nothing will change as it is. What you mean the super mega rich players putting their hands in their pockets to help the youngsters steer away from the gang and drug cultures, that ravage the black communities in certain areas, by possibley funding youth development work in inner cities ? That just might be crazy enough to work. But kneeling is good to. Edited by dannyh (29 Sep 2017 8.43am)

The US police usually shoot dead around 1,000 people per year split pretty evenly between whites and blacks/hispanics. And some accuse them of being unfair.

From 2016 BBC article: "Official data on the number of people killed by the police turns out to be remarkably unreliable.'We can't have an informed discussion, because we don't have data,' FBI Director James Comey said in the House of Representatives in October.'People have data about who went to a movie last weekend, or how many books were sold, or how many cases of the flu walked into an emergency room. And I cannot tell you how many people were shot by police in the United States last month, last year, or anything about the demographics. And that's a very bad place to be.' Between 1994 and March 2012, there had been 361,015 murders in all of South Africa and between 1990 and March 2012, there had been an estimated 1,544 murders on South African farms of which 208 of the victims were Black. The last government analysis of farm attack victims by race was conducted in 2001. In their report, the police’s Crime Information Analysis Centre revealed that of the 1,398 people attacked on farms, 61.6% were white, 33.3% were black, 4.4% were Asian and 0.7% were listed as “other”. Statistics of race are no longer collected. [Good on Flower and Olonga by the way] Edited by hedgehog50 (29 Sep 2017 10.23am)

Edited by hedgehog50 (29 Sep 2017 10.01am) Kind of irrelevant, they should, but that's not what's being discussed here - Plus they're not being killed by the police. Only the state holds lawful ownership of force. The fact that any country has unreliable data on the number of people killed by its police force in itself is a f**king disgrace - Let alone in a western democracy. this isn't South Africa, the United States of America. It just goes to show how f**king poor police oversight is, if the government cannot determine how many people died as a result of police action, when it can determine death rates from disease (The CDC is prevented from tracking fire arm deaths in the US)
