I think a lot of people on here are missing the point. It's not about a handful of t***s writing offensive posts on here. It's about hundreds if not thousands of Palace fans singing homophobic songs at matches.

Which I'll say again, hasn't happened for quite a while.

Social media is a strange thing. People say things that I doubt they would say in person. I don't think Palace has a larger anti-gay fanbase than any other club. It's a shame we're (and Hol) being portrayed in this way to the wider world. Freedom of speech is very important but that does not equate to there being no impact- on other people's feelings or your reputation.

I'd agree that Palace fans are no more anti-gay than any other club. If any other club were Brighton's arch-rivals they'd be getting the same focus as us now. But that in no way excuses the chanting of homophobic songs at matches. It's just wrong. Plain and simple

Which is great but probably only because we haven't played Brighton for a while. Regrettably it's bound to start up again when we do.

By very few I bet this time. Very very few. By the time we play them there's a chance some shaming will have happened to some other clubs.

I'd go further and say we're better than many clubs but you're right, there is a balance between freedom of speech and the impact of it.

I'm against 'hate speech' being something that has any legal implication at all, so in actual fact I'm 100% pro free speech. However, people often forget that freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom of consequence. Those projecting hatred can expect others to do the same, or to be told to do one, or will get banned from a forum or a game or whatever. If you don't play well with others, it's more often than not reciprocated.

It's all about the hateful fringes really. That's where there is a problem. The vast majority just engage in good hearted banter and no-one gives a s***.

at the end of the day this is about the HF
we all sing what they sing
when we were relegating Hull last season not once did they (and we in the Arthur) sing 'going down' or any anti Hull songs I am proud to say
enough has been said that in my heart I believe in the Brighton game it will be the same
Positivity not negativity

Up the Palace, up the HF, bloody brilliant bunch of fans

I think this is a massively understated point, and the HF don't really both with anti- anyone chants, bar the "Can you hear x sing?" one.

I do miss some of the old songs:

We are on the right side,
We are on the right side,
We are on the right side over here

We are on the left side,
We are on the left side,
We are on the left side over here

The Famous Alan Mullery went to Rome to sign the Pope.
The Famous Alan Mullery went to Rome to sign the Pope.
The Famous Alan Mullery went to Rome to sign the Pope,
And this is what he said
f*** OFF!
Who’s that team they call the Palace?
Who’s that team they all adore?
We’re the boys in Red n Blue and we’re f***ing over you
And Ron Noades Mother is a whore, WHORE!
(Repeat Whore, or any other word meaning the same, until the song restarts)

You are my Palace,
My only Palace,
You make me happy,
When skies are grey.
You'll never know just,
How much I love you,
Please don't take my Palace away,
La la la la la, Oooh!
La la la la la,
La la la la la, Oooh! Oooh!

Ect

I think most sensible people agree that it isn't banter anymore.

I think most sensible people realise that sometimes it's banter and sometimes it isn't. Intent matters.
