Of course pending Brexit negotiations, the manifesto mentioned bringing immigration down to sustainable levels so Theresa May as PM should be judged on this NOT going back to 2010 ! Now out with my wife. Have a good evening 'Gusseting'.
Where are you going this time? The petrol station for some munchies. (I jest have a lovely evening)
I will say she's done well to make it to the summer recess (Brexit ain't that important then!) but whether that's down to her or lack of leadership material in the tory ranks remains to be seen.

We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

What, out of interest, do you percieve my 'starry-eyed' views on immigration to be? I'd love to know. Be interesting to see how close your perceptions are. Edited by nickgusset (08 Jul 2017 8.50pm)

Immigration numbers should ebb and flow as we don't always need the same amount of workers over time. Do we have the skills / training and expertise among our current population to carry out massive infrastructure projects like house building or fill gaps in the job market such as in the nhs or other public services. It's no good completely restricting immigration if we haven't got enough skilled labour. Once we start to see the fruits of any investment in training, apprenticeships or even entreprenuership / business start ups, then we look at reducing numbers. I do think there needs to be control over immigration, and there is. It's not as free for all as some would like you to believe. Also, immigration is used (imo) as a dead cat argument to divert from what are the real causes for the state of our proud nation is successive governments putting the population behind other more personal interests. I also don't judge people by where they are from. i don't care where my neighbours come from as long as they are ok people.

What about the non-bigots who have concerns over immigration - should they keep quite too?

Yeah coz them 'bigots' have been proved wrong about the problems with mass immigration haven't they. All those terrorist attacks, organised crime, gang culture, housing shortage, suppressed wages and religious intolerance is all in our minds.
