An interesting and well thought article [Link] unlike much of the knee jerking and "I'm in the know" responses on this forum I would describe that as commentary rather than an article- which is built on the author's knowledge, sources facts. In that regard, it's no better than much of the knee jerk responses on here.

That is a good piece actually, and the suggestion that Sam felt he was unable to do anymore here than save us from relegation may well say more about us than it does about him. But it's just as much an opinion as what people are posting on here. Most of the facts seem to relate to the Tony Pulis departure!
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

Parish is the greatest thing to happen to Palace and I don't want him to go at all. I would be devastated if he did. It's just that I have always been interested in personalities. Parish IMO is a left brainer and while he's good with numbers he probably isn't so hot with people. Not 'managing' people, yes he's good at managing people at levels beneath him, but 'getting on' with people socially. A lot of successful entrepenures are loner types like this. A clue to his deficiencies with dealing with people (on his same level) is Mark Bright. Now Brighty comes over as a very gentle and empathetic personality, which is why I think Parish spends so much time with him - Parish is smart enough to know his own weaknesses. Have you met either? Very good friend of mine works in marketing and knows Parish well. Not sure if your guess work is accurate. And I've had a long (while sober) chat with Bright - gentle? He's a gentleman in the traditional sense. But was forthright and not what I'd say is a pushover

This extract from his autobiography indicates that Sam (prompted by his family) had been looking forward to a new, less stressful chapter in his life even before he went to Sunderland. If we get mired into a relegation next Christmas, who's to say he won't be invited back to save us again, perhaps on a five-month contract? Edited by merganser (24 May 2017 12.15pm)

Wait until decenter. .... "I've had a rest, missing the day to day involvement in football. Need one more challenge, and keeping Brighton in the premiership is a challenge I couldn't turn down"...

If he turns up in another job in 6 months - 1 years time then it will completely sour how I feel about him. Time will tell Totally agree, although there apparently is a clause in his contract preventing any return for a two-year period.

No idea why the club hasn't released a statement. They put out Allardyce's statement yesterday and they've been posting happy birthday wishes for Yannick Bolasie today, as if everything's normal.

I don;t think there was A specific Clause - just that he's contracted for 2.5 years, and a massive compensation fee would be required to allow him to work within that period.

Cliche I accept but don't know how else to describe it.. It was something to do with the Manchester events, it was discussed on Alan Brazil's show, they all seemed to have heard he personally knew someone involved and decided he didn't want to be away from his family for long periods anymore.
