What a load of bollocks.. If I was gay, I wouldn't care if people called me queer or a bender, etc.. because being offended by those "insults" would mean that I'm ashamed of it.
Bloody leftist idiots need to grow some balls, insults are both part of life and sports.

Out of interest, what would your stance be on people calling people names relating to racial descriptions? Is this acceptable?

I'm not gay myself and wouldn't abuse any gay fan weather he or she support Brighton or whoever as I know some gay people who I would call friends.

My best mates sister is gay.she prefers women to men,so what.

Well, I never said I don't care if other people are being verbally abused. I was merely saying that *I* wouldn't be affected if the abuse was directed at me.
I always protect people on the street when I see any kind of abuse being directed at them, but that's a different kettle of fish in my opinion. I honestly don't think that anyone at a football match should take the banter / jeers seriously. There is no right or wrong answer here, it's all a matter of opinion.

Thats a good reply and i didnt seroously think you or many would cross the road as i suggested. But someone being aggressive in a humorous manner may not be a reason to ignore it. But, yes, as i previously posted, football fans do have a fantastic sense of humour and mustnt be taken seriously as they dont mean it seriously. But other less appreciative, let's say more challenged fans will take this seriously and Jon in, in a full scale aggressive manner. Perhaps the Stilling arm of a more mature person is called for.
I went into a pub recently and got talking to a bunch of Shrewsbury supporters (yes there are some) and one said, in an aggressive manner he thought I was gay. Rather than take offence and kicking-off, I replied it was funny how far some will go to get a blow job, and, after a short pause, l told him he was safe as i only go for the good looking ones. Laughter from his mates, and eventually him. I'm just glad I wasn't too wasted when he made that remark and when my missus turned up to run me home she gave the bloke a peck on the cheek to show how much she missed male contact! Lol

People react differently to racial abuse. I'm half French (one of the many reasons I love Cabaye ), I spent many years being insulted for it, I never cared and still don't give a damn. I know it's not the same as being called the n word for example, but it is similar.
I know quite a few coloured people who just laugh it off, but others who get deeply offended by it. It really depends on the personality of the victim.
To answer your question though - I don't agree with racism and it definitely isn't used in a lighthearted manner or as banter in football.

Nice story, that's the same sort of thing I'd do.
I don't see the point of reacting to situations like that in an aggressive manner, who does it help? What good does it do?
With regards to the section in bold. I completely agree. Once there is no jocular intent, then clearly there is something wrong that needs to be addressed. Unfortunately it is difficult to quell someone's anger in situations such as those, but that's not to say that one shouldn't try.

This 'abuse' and so called 'homophobic aggression' is continuing to be exaggerated. What was a juvenile song sung by about half a block in total is being made into something more. Carry on if you must.

You what Nick, I'm really not that bothered about Brighton's (or anyone else's for that matter) sensitivities at the moment. Sorry, but I don't think it's the best time to start beating this particular drum again.

Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing!

Brighton are hardly mentioned. It's more about the experience of a palace mad fan who happens to be LGBT
