In fairness to AP, I can't see why the substitutions were a mistake.

Their winner came because Cabaye lost his balance which let Pogba through.

Also, WH was slightly out of position, though he probably did the right thing in trying to narrow the angle.

Even if he had stayed on the pitch, Jimmy Mac would have probably been nowhere that bit of the play.

On the plus side, the defence played much better than against Hull.

I though Lee and Cabaye put in good shifts, but we missed Punch to set up attacks and feed Benteke and Zaha.

A word, too, for our Welsh players who both played well.

Read my reply to the original post, no need to be pissy, I agree with you.

Go back and read the whole post.

Of course Wilf is worse at this, but he wasnt the person responsible for tackling Pogba in the run up the their winner.

If you're gonna have a conversation then contribute to all of it or don't waste my time.

Bangell - If Camus wrote The Myth of Sisyphus today, it would be about Jason Puncheon eternally trying and failing to pass with his right foot.

Can't agree, Dave. Over the years, we've seen far, far worse. Rough patch right now but in terms of excitement, hard to beat.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

So, back from the game and my two cents.

Manchester United looked much better in real life then I imagined they would be. Namely Pogba and Ibrahamovic. You can see why they cost so much even if they were overpriced, especially Pogba.

All in all, they played the better football, and I was annoyed at how little aggression we showed in the first half - I think we showed them too much respect if anything.

They had a goal disallowed, a penalty shout, and overall I think even 1-1 would have been kind to us. The subs, well it could have gone either way, but I think we are clutching at straws here.

To be honest, a much better team came here tonight and beat us. It was relatively close but margins are close in the premier league. They are in a different class to us as much as it pains me to say it.

I think Wilf was wasted upfront, he is never good with his back to a defender. Wilf and Townsend on the wings, Bentecke up front, that would probably have worked better, as we had no real threat given Zaha was mostly marked out of the game.

Gutted we threw a point away but we will move on.

3 points from relegation now and 4 points from bottom. On Saturday we play Chelsea who have won their last 10 in a row and conceded 2 goals. By contrast we have lost 7 of our last 9 and conceded 23 goals. Let's be honest, it will be a minor f***ing miracle if we get anything from that game.

While that is unfolding, the two teams directly below us play each other, meaning that if we do lose, either Boro will go above us or Swansea will draw level with us. Either way, difficult to argue that we are gradually sinking.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

If we don't beat Watford we will be completely in the s***.

I dunno what everyone is wetting their knickers about.

When did we last give Man U a lesson in football?

Did anyone really think we we would stuff them? Looking at the prediction thread, most thought we would concede a shed load!

Put your head between your knees ,Breathe deeply and try to relax. You will be able to see the crisis is not as bad as you think.

We are scoring goals! We haven't done that for years. It's the most exciting time we have had in the Prem.

The last time I was this pumped up was at Wembley in the Play-off final. I never expected us to win the FA cup.

Enjoy what we have.

Damn Johnny-cum-latelys!!!

Pard's might have known the bottom three teams lost so thought the risk was ok.

If we had got a winner then he would have been forgiven by a huge swathe of anti-Alans.

He likes a gamble. It shows.

It ain't boring.

I'm enjoying his time at Palace.

Pity some of the players are not up for it as much as the others.

..very true and do not underestimate the difference at half time after the officiating balls up destroyed a very good first half battling display from our whole team, it would have unfairly ruined Mr Pardews plans and altered the second half drastically, the first goal is always a killer against these sides and to come back and score a beauty like we did was all down to the team being behind Mr Pardew.
The sub had absolutely no bearing whatsoever with their winning goal, mainly because it needed a real cool class player to actually score it, this game was always extremely tough and hugely against us getting anything from it, I think Mr Pardew is doing a fine job considering the injuries and missing players he has to contend with and again tonight the defending showed huge improvement for the third game running, hopefully against Chelsea the officials won't award them an opening goal and an unfair advantage for the rest of the match that Moan.u had tonight.
