If safe standing came in, It would probably be a couple of bloke in the lower holmesdale.

I seem to recall that SP was one of several chairmen/owners who had put forward a suggestion re 'safe standing' areas to the FA. The inference was that, possibly, the Whitehorse end would be converted to standing & the away fans moved to t'other end of the AW. Current rules are based on a couple of tragic incidents that occurred when football stadiums were constructed quite differently. Having been to a few European matches it's clear that in places like Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Juventus, Fiorentina & Milan that the clubs allow certain sections to stand despite them being 'seated only' and despite the local regs - much the same as Block B. I guess clubs could simply carry on with that if they want to.

It will of course be the Lower Holmesdale and I'm sure SP would do his homework on how many Season tickets would sell and act accordingly on how many blocks would be set out as Safe Standing.With the campaign for these areas steadily growing and our Chairman wanting to retain the best atmosphere in the EPL once Selhurst has been developed its a no-brainer really. Football grounds have moved on since the Taylor Report as have 99% of supporters especially in this country so I think it can only be a positive for the club.

The obvious solution is part standing . Probably at lower levels. The Holmesdale would be the obvious. Maybe Whitehorse if they move away fans there as has been suggested. The main stand and the Arthur all seated. The old days of the massive terraces were fun but could get scary. They were too big. If you just had it down the front would be safer.

I'm pretty sure the Insurance Companies will use their guidelines to sign off stadium certification.If we have any experts that know better I would love to hear from them as it is going to be when not if with Safe Standing.Once you have clubs setting a precedent at their ground the scales tip in my opinion and with Celtic being so close to home relatively speaking I'm thinking it may happen at Selhurst indepentenly of the ground redevelopment maybe even before the start of next season??
